Joel 1:1 The word of Adonai that came to Yo’el the son of P’tu’el:
2 “Hear this, you leaders!
Listen, all who live in the land!
Has anything like this ever happened in your days,
or in your ancestors’ days?
3 Tell your children about it,
and have them tell it to theirs,
and have them tell the next generation.
4 What the cutter-worms left, the locusts ate;
what the locusts left, the grasshoppers ate;
what the grasshoppers left, the shearer-worms ate.

The book of Joel tells the message that he received from God. Joel shared this message with God's people, the Israelites. The Israelites were sinning and not obeying God. God wanted them to know that He would punish them if they did not repent.
In our Bible verses, Joel talked about locusts that would come and destroy the crops. Joel may have been using this example to talk about an enemy army that would come and destroy the land. Joel 2:2a says, "It will be a dark, gloomy day. It will be a dark and cloudy day. At sunrise you will see the army spread over the mountains."
Later, Joel told the people that God wanted them to change. In Joel 2:12a, God said, "Now come back to me with all your heart." God was very patient with the Israelites. He punished them, but He did not destroy them as a nation.
God is very patient with you, too. He wants you to stop sinning and be close to
Him. Seek God with all your heart today!
"Come back to the Lord your God. He is kind and merciful. He does not become angry quickly. He has great love." [Joel 2:13b]
PRAYER: Dear God, thank You for loving me and forgiving me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
