Deaf Devo - The Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States for Saturday, 22 July 2017 "Bible Buildings (1)" Bible Reading: Exodus 25:1-9
Exodus 25:1 Adonai said to Moshe, 2 “Tell the people of Isra’el to take up a collection for me — accept a contribution from anyone who wholeheartedly wants to give. 3 The contribution you are to take from them is to consist of gold, silver and bronze; 4 blue, purple and scarlet yarn; fine linen, goat’s hair, 5 tanned ram skins and fine leather; acacia-wood; 6 oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; 7 onyx stones and other stones to be set, for the ritual vest and breastplate.
8 “They are to make me a sanctuary, so that I may live among them. 9 You are to make it according to everything I show you — the design of the tabernacle and the design of its furnishings. This is how you are to make it.
-------
God wanted Moses and the Israelites to build a special place where the Israelites could worship God. Some people call this building the tabernacle. Our Bible verses for today call it the Holy Tent.
God told Moses, "The people will build a holy place for me. Then I can live among them" (verse 8). God wanted a place where He could live among the Israelites. This holy tent would also be a place where the Israelites could offer sacrifices to God.
Our Bible verses also tell us that Moses asked the Israelites to bring gold, silver, yarn, linen, wood, oil, spices and other materials to help build the holy tent. In this way, the Israelites were an important part of the construction of the holy tent.
As Christians, we don't have to go to a special place to worship God. We can worship Him any place at any time. God's Holy Spirit lives in us and works through us every day.
"...true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth...God is spirit. So the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." [John 4:23b-24]
PRAYER: Father, You are so wonderful! Thank You for giving me Your Holy Spirit to guide me each day. In Jesus' name. Amen.
