to have glory, honor and power,

Colossians 3:1 So if you were raised along with the Messiah, then seek the things above, where the Messiah is sitting at the right hand of God.[a] 2 Focus your minds on the things above, not on things here on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God. 4 When the Messiah, who is our life, appears, then you too will appear with him in glory!
5 Therefore, put to death the earthly parts of your nature — sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed (which is a form of idolatry); 6 for it is because of these things that God’s anger is coming on those who disobey him. 7 True enough, you used to practice these things in the life you once lived; 8 but now, put them all away — anger, exasperation, meanness, slander and obscene talk. 9 Never lie to one another; because you have stripped away the old self, with its ways, 10 and have put on the new self, which is continually being renewed in fuller and fuller knowledge, closer and closer to the image of its Creator. 11 The new self allows no room for discriminating between Gentile and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, foreigner, savage, slave, free man; on the contrary, in all, the Messiah is everything.
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with feelings of compassion and with kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with one another; if anyone has a complaint against someone else, forgive him. Indeed, just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must forgive.
14 Above all these, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together perfectly; 15 and let the shalom which comes from the Messiah be your heart’s decision-maker, for this is why you were called to be part of a single Body.
And be thankful — 16 let the Word of the Messiah, in all its richness, live in you, as you teach and counsel each other in all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude to God in your hearts. 17 That is, everything you do or say, do in the name of the Lord Yeshua, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
18 Wives, subject yourselves to your husbands, as is appropriate in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives and don’t treat them harshly.
20 Children, obey your parents in everything; for this pleases the Lord.
21 Fathers, don’t irritate your children and make them resentful, or they will become discouraged.
22 Slaves, obey your human masters in everything, not serving only when they are watching you, to win their favor, but single-heartedly, fearing the Lord. 23 Whatever work you do, put yourself into it, as those who are serving not merely other people, but the Lord. 24 Remember that as your reward, you will receive the inheritance from the Lord. You are slaving for the Lord, for the Messiah. 25 Don’t worry — whoever is doing wrong will be paid in kind for his wrong, and there is no favoritism shown.[Footnotes:

According to Scripture, heaven is a real place for real people who do real things. The Bible is very clear in pointing out that heaven is a city. Heaven is a country. Heaven is a garden. Heaven is a paradise. Heaven is a place. It is where we will be reunited with loved ones who have preceded us. Heaven is a place of activity, building, eating, worshipping, and much more. The Bible teaches that one day heaven will come to earth. The Bible tells us to set our minds on things above, not on earthly things. Here are three sins that keep us from being heavenly minded.
PRACTICAL PRINCIPLES:
1. Sexual sin keeps us earthbound. This speaks of sexual immorality in general. It refers to any form of illicit sex: extramarital sex, premarital sex, homosexual sex. Let me simplify it for you. God’s for order for sex is one woman and one man. Monogamous. Married. End of story.
2. Idolatry, or covetousness, keeps us earthbound. This speaks of a person who always wants more. The covetous person is never satisfied with what they have. They want what someone else has.Contentment is key, and it is found in your relationship with God.
3. Anger, meanness, and slandering others keeps us earthbound. This is speaking of a person that has a deep-seated anger. It also speaks of a person that flies off of the handle. I have an acronym for you to use before you speak: THINK: Is it Truthful? Is it Helpful? Is it Inspiring? Is it necessary? Is it Kind?
RELEVANT REMINDERS:
• If you could read your own obituary today, what do you think people would remember you for? What would be written about you?
• We don’t determine the date of our birth and we don’t determine the date of our death, but we have everything to say about what happens in between those two dates.
• If you can’t write “Hallowed be Thy name” over what you are doing, then don’t do it anymore.
• It is not always bad to want more. I encourage you to want more—of the right things. More of Jesus. More opportunities to glorify God. More spiritual fruit. That is a good thing.
APPLICABLE ACTIONS:
Think heaven! If you really start thinking more about and seeking heaven, which is to say, putting the Lord first in every area—from the thoughts you think to the friends you choose to the way you use your time—it will transform you. So many people are consumed with the search for happiness. But Pastor Greg Laurie says they often look in the wrong places. Today, he points out where real joy is found . . . in fulfilling God's purpose for our lives.

At the end of this time they were to become the king’s attendants.
6 Among these, from the people of Y’hudah, were Dani’el, Hananyah, Misha’el and ‘Azaryah. 7 The chief officer gave them other names — to Dani’el he gave the name Belt’shatzar; to Hananyah, Shadrakh; to Misha’el, Meishakh; and to ‘Azaryah, ‘Aved-N’go.
8 But Dani’el resolved that he would not defile himself with the king’s food or the wine he drank, so he asked the chief officer to be excused from defiling himself. 9 God caused the chief officer to be kind and sympathetic toward Dani’el; 10 however, the chief officer said to Dani’el, “I’m afraid of my lord the king. After all, he has given you an allowance of food and drink; so if he were to see you boys looking worse than the others your age, you would be putting my own head in danger from the king.”
11 Then Dani’el said to the guard whom the chief officer had put in charge of Dani’el, Hananyah, Misha’el and ‘Azaryah, 12 “Please! Try an experiment on your servants — for ten days have them give us only vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then see how we look, and compare us with how the boys who eat the king’s food look; and deal with your servants according to what you see.” 14 He agreed to do what they had asked and gave them a ten-day test. 15 At the end of ten days they looked better and more robust than all the boys who were eating the king’s food. 16 So the guard took away their food and the wine they were supposed to drink, and gave them vegetables.
17 To these four boys God had given knowledge and skill in every aspect of learning and wisdom; moreover, Dani’el could understand all kinds of visions and dreams.
18 When the time the king had set for them to be presented came, the chief officer presented them to N’vukhadnetzar; 19 and when the king spoke with them, none was found among all of them to compare with Dani’el, Hananyah, Misha’el and ‘Azaryah. So they entered the king’s service; 20 and in all matters requiring wisdom and understanding, whenever the king consulted them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and exorcists in his entire kingdom.
21 So Dani’el remained there until the first year of King Koresh.
It has been said, “The measure of a man’s real character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.” What is character or integrity? It is what you are when you are alone, when there is no one around to impress. Character and integrity pick up where the fear of being caught leaves off. While fear is a good deterrent and has its place, a better motive is the desire to do what is right.
PRACTICAL PRINCIPLES:
1. We need to be people of principle, because our principles will be challenged in every way. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego were living in a culture that was largely hostile to their beliefs, and we are living in the same kind of culture today.
2. We need more men and women of purpose today. Daniel “purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself . . . ” (Daniel 1:8). Choose to live in such a way that your life will glorify God.
3. Making a stand in the small areas now will give us the strength to make a stand in the big ones later. The evening of a life is determined by the morning of it. The decisions we make today will play out tomorrow. RELEVANT REMINDERS:
Character may be manifested in the great moments, but it is made in the small ones. Character is not made in a crisis; it is only exhibited.
APPLICABLE ACTIONS:
Are you compromising in little areas? Little things will become big things. Little compromises will become big compromises. A little honesty here will mean a lot more of it later. A little deception here will mean a lot more of it later. There always will be temptations to take the shortcut or the easy path. Choose instead to do what is right and honorable before God.

HOW TO WALK WITH GOD
Genesis 5:1 (vi) Here is the genealogy of Adam. On the day that God created man he made him in the likeness of God; 2 he created them male and female; he blessed them and called them Adam [humankind, man] on the day they were created. 3 After Adam lived 130 years he fathered a son like himself and named him Shet. 4 After Shet was born, Adam lived another 800 years and had both sons and daughters. 5 In all, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.
6 Shet lived 105 years and fathered Enosh. 7 After Enosh was born, Shet lived another 807 years and had sons and daughters. 8 In all, Shet lived 912 years; then he died.
9 Enosh lived ninety years and fathered Kenan. 10 After Kenan was born, Enosh lived another 815 years and had sons and daughters. 11 In all, Enosh lived 905 years; then he died.
12 Kenan lived seventy years and fathered Mahalal’el. 13 After Mahalal’el was born, Kenan lived another 840 years and had sons and daughters. 14 In all, Kenan lived 910 years; then he died.
15 Mahalal’el lived sixty-five years and fathered Yered. 16 After Yered was born, Mahalal’el lived another 830 years and had sons and daughters. 17 In all, Mahalal’el lived 895 years; then he died.
18 Yered lived 162 years and fathered Hanokh. 19 After Hanokh was born, Yered lived 800 years and had sons and daughters. 20 In all, Yered lived 962 years; then he died.
21 Hanokh lived sixty-five years and fathered Metushelach. 22 After Metushelach was born, Hanokh walked with God 300 years and had sons and daughters. 23 In all, Hanokh lived 365 years. 24 Hanokh walked with God, and then he wasn’t there, because God took him.
(vii) 25 Metushelach lived 187 years and fathered Lemekh. 26 After Lemekh was born, Metushelach lived 782 years and had sons and daughters. 27 In all, Metushelach lived 969 years; then he died.
28 Lemekh lived 182 years and fathered a son, 29 whom he called Noach [restful]; for he said, “This one will comfort us in our labor, in the hard work we do with our hands [to get what comes] from the ground that Adonai cursed.” 30 After Noach was born, Lemekh lived 595 years and had sons and daughters. 31 In all, Lemekh lived 777 years; then he died.
32 Noach was 500 years old; and Noach fathered Shem, Ham and Yefet.
Enoch is only mentioned five times in the Bible, two of them in genealogies, yet he is one of only two men who never saw death—the other being Elijah. Enoch is also singled out, along with Noah, as having walked with God. And he made it into the hall of faith in Hebrews 11. So what was it about Enoch that set him apart? And what can we take from his life and apply to our lives today?
PRACTICAL PRINCIPLES:
1. Enoch walked with God. The idea of walking with God as an analogy for your relationship with God is a common one in Scripture. But just what does that mean? Amos 3:3 describes two people moving in rhythm together, but keep in mind that it is not God adjusting to us, but us to Him. We often make plans and then ask God to bless them, rather than going the other way around. To walk with God means I am willing to move in rhythm with God toward His goal.
2. Enoch was well-pleasing to God (Hebrews 11:5). There are four principles that will get you on the right track. God is pleased when we patiently endure unfair treatment (1 Peter 2:19). He is pleased when children obey their parents (Colossians 3:20), Worship and helping others is well-pleasing to God (Hebrews 13:15-16). Giving financially to the work of the kingdom pleases God (Philippians 4:17).
3. Enoch was a witness for God (Jude 1:14). Because Enoch walked with God and lived a life that was well-pleasing to Him, he saw the world for what it was and so he confronted people with the knowledge that the Lord was coming. There is nothing we can share with those around us that is more important than the gospel message.
RELEVANT REMINDERS:
Walking with God means to have the same goals, purpose, and desires as He does. It means to be in complete agreement with Him, seeing things the way He sees them. It means moving ourselves in His direction, not trying to pull Him our way. And if we are able to truly walk with him, we will see God work on our behalf (John 15:7).
APPLICABLE ACTIONS:
In order to walk with God, we need to take the first step of dealing with our sin (1 John 1:7-9). And we should constantly check our lives too. Are we moving in rhythm with God, or are we drifting away? Are we doing the things that are pleasing to God? Are we being a witness for Him in the
world?
