#Health4All "YOU’RE INVITED: 3 Part #Health4All Webinar Series Starting March 31" for Friday, 27 March 2015
The California Endowment is pleased to announce a three part #Health4All webinar series that will be done in partnership with leading researchers from UCLA Health Policy Center, UCLA Dream Resource Center, UC Berkeley Labor Center, and Health Access to help keep you informed of some of the latest research and developments related to the health status of undocumented Californians.
March 31 - Health Insurance and Demographics of California Immigrants Eligible for Deferred Action
More than one million undocumented immigrants in California are estimated to be eligible for relief from deportation and work authorization as a result of recent executive actions. Health Insurance and Demographics of California Immigrants Eligible for Deferred Action, a report released today by the UC Berkeley Labor Center and UCLA Health Policy Center, estimates that up to 500,000 California immigrants could gain eligibility for Medi-Cal. Join The California Endowment and Nadereh Pourat, the UCLA Health Policy Center's director of research, as we discuss the findings of their report. Pourat will examine demographic estimates for undocumented California immigrants and those eligible for DACA and DAPA, including income, work status, age distribution, and education levels access to health insurance as well as the impact on Medi-Cal. Please register for this live-streaming webinar here.
April 9 - Health Access- Reorienting the Safety Net: Case Study of County Safety Nets
A survey recently released by Health Access California Reorienting the Safety Net for the Remaining Uninsured, shows the major impact of the Affordable Care Act on California’s safety-net programs, as well as dramatic differences by counties in both their eligibility levels by income, immigration status and health care enrollment rates. Some counties are refocusing their programs to serve the remaining uninsured, which may include the undocumented. Other counties are exploring expanding or reinstating health care for the undocumented. Join Anthony Wright, executive director of Health Access, as he presents his report findings and puts the spotlight on the progress of Los Angeles, Sacramento, Fresno, Contra Costa and other counties. Please register for this webinar here.
April 21 - Undocumented Mental Health Report- Pol[ICE] In My Head
The future and lives of undocumented people are continuously uncertain. Enforcement policies, limited opportunities and heavily policed communities all impact the health and well-being of undocumented individuals and their families. The Dream Resource Center of the UCLA Labor Centerwill share findings from Pol[ICE] In My Head - Part 3 of the Undocumented and Uninsured report. Members of the CIRCLE Project and ASPIRE-LA will share how they are filling the gaps to support the emotional and mental well-being of community members as immigration policies continue to stall.
