And let us do this all the more as you see the Day approaching. 26 For if we deliberately continue to sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but only the terrifying prospect of Judgment, of raging fire that will consume the enemies.[b]
28 Someone who disregards the Torah of Moshe is put to death without mercy on the word of two or three witnesses.[c] 29 Think how much worse will be the punishment deserved by someone who has trampled underfoot the Son of God; who has treated as something common the blood of the covenant[d] which made him holy; and who has insulted the Spirit, giver of God’s grace!
30 For the One we know is the One who said,
“Vengeance is my responsibility;
I will repay,”
and then said,
“Adonai will judge his people.”[e]
31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God!
32 But remember the earlier days, when, after you had received the light, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings. 33 Sometimes you were publicly disgraced and persecuted, while at other times you stood loyally by those who were treated this way. 34 For you shared the sufferings of those who had been put in prison. Also when your possessions were seized, you accepted it gladly; since you knew that what you possessed was better and would last forever.
35 So don’t throw away that courage of yours, which carries with it such a great reward. 36 For you need to hold out; so that, by having done what God wills, you may receive what he has promised. 37 For
“There is so, so little time!
The One coming will indeed come,
he will not delay.
38 But the person who is righteous
will live his life by trusting,
and if he shrinks back,
I will not be pleased with him.”[f]
39 However, we are not the kind who shrink back and are destroyed; on the contrary, we keep trusting and thus preserve our lives![Footnotes:

RG AUDIO 031415"You Have His Word" by Author: Jorge De Barros
Egas Moniz was a Portuguese nobleman who assured a Spanish king that the prince he tutored and advised would fulfill a promise of loyalty to the monarch. When the young man failed to honor the commitment, Moniz made a painful decision. He travelled to Spain, a rope around his neck, with his wife and their children. There he asked to be received by the king. Permission granted, he knelt before the throne and offered all of them as slaves. Moniz would rather lose all than to break a promise.
Transactions nowadays demand stacks of papers, witnesses, stamps and signatures. Long gone are the days when a handshake seals a valuable contract. A Russian phase underlines the universal climate of suspicion: “Trust, but verify!”
Only God is totally reliable. And He does not deal with us by proxy—through agents, brokers, lobbyists or representatives. Our hope is unshakable because it is anchored in His individualized promise. You have His word.
Hymn for Today: "Only Trust Him" by John H. Stockton
1. Come, every soul by sin oppressed,
there's mercy with the Lord;
and he will surely give you rest,
by trusting in his Word.
Refrain:
Only trust him, only trust him,
only trust him now.
He will save you, he will save you,
he will save you now.
2. For Jesus shed his precious blood
rich blessings to bestow;
plunge now into the crimson flood
that washes bright as snow.
Refrain:
Only trust him, only trust him,
only trust him now.
He will save you, he will save you,
he will save you now.
3. Yes, Jesus is the truth the way
that leads you into rest;
believe in him without delay,
and you are fully blest.
Refrain:
Only trust him, only trust him,
only trust him now.
He will save you, he will save you,
he will save you now.
4. Come then and join this holy band,
and on to glory go,
to dwell in that celestial land
where joys immortal flow.
Refrain:
Only trust him, only trust him,
only trust him now.
He will save you, he will save you,
he will save you now.
