The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown of Kansas City, Missouri, United States enote with Pastor Scott Chrostek for Friday, March 27, 2015
Greetings RezDowntowners,
It is great to be writing you this Friday morning! This is officially the beginning of one of the best weeks of the calendar year, Holy Week. Things kick-off this Saturday at 11am on the north lawn of Liberty Memorial with our Citywide Easter Egg Hunt! We will have Easter Eggs, animals from Johnson’s Farm, crafts, cookie decorating, a live radio station, a hot dog lunch, fire trucks, police trucks and so much more. It is going to be a great day of celebration in downtown Kansas City. I was fortunate to spend a little time on KC Live this week to talk about it, click here to watch and share. It is going to be a great way to kick off Holy Week.
Then on Saturday evening and all day Sunday, we’ll be worshiping and observing Palm Sunday. This is the weekend/day that marks Jesus’ triumphant entry into the holy city of Jerusalem. As he entered into that city in advance of all that was to come, people greeted him waiving palm braches and shouting words of coronation and praise, cheering, “Hosanna, in the Highest.” This weekend we’ll have a chance to do the same thing in worship with our KidsCOR children leading the way in a Palm Procession at all of our services on McGee! I hope you’ll make plans to join us.
After this weekend, we’ll be onto Maundy Thursday (a service of Holy Communion), Good Friday (a service of Tenebrae), and finally Easter Sunday at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. I am so excited to be sharing this week with you and I can’t wait to see you on Saturday for the Easter Egg Hunt, and then all weekend in worship while waving palms!
