"Year of Mercy: 2016 Blog Theme" by J. Steven Harper
Pope Francis' designation of December 8, 2015 through November 20, 2016 as a Jubilee Year is his way of turning up the volume on his papacy, so that we will better hear and respond to his message and ministry. His designation of this year as "The Year of Mercy" reveals what it is that he wants us to hear more clearly.
Because his call is an invitation to all people, not just Roman Catholics, I have decided to use his papal bull, 'The Face of Mercy' as the basis for my Oboedire meditations, beginning on January 6, 2016. I will move section-by-section through the document--a journey that will engage us for much of 2016. The meditations will appear each Wednesday.
