I wanted to share with you this powerful letter from my dear friend Joni Eareckson Tada.
Dear friends of Lausanne,
We are so excited about next year’s Lausanne Younger Leaders Gathering in Jakarta, scheduled for August 3-10, 2016. It will be an historic convening of some of the world’s most influential younger leaders in Christ’s kingdom. Joni and Friends is honored to sponsor eight younger leaders who have a significant impact in the worldwide disability community. Let me name a few:
- Michael Panther became disabled during the war in Sudan, but through the generosity of a CURE doctor, Michael served as a Joni and Friends intern, is currently studying at Louisiana State University, and plans to return to South Sudan to work among his countrymen with disabilities.
- Ivan Yorbik is a recent seminary graduate from Kiev, Ukraine, and plans to serve people with disabilities in local churches and the former Soviet Union.
- Sammy Hammork rescues Kenyan orphans with disabilities, providing housing, schooling, and support (Sammy started serving children with special needs when she was 10 years old).
I encourage you, and other churches and Christian organizations to join us in making an investment in the lives of our next generation of Christian leaders. Thank you for prayerfully considering what you can do to make YLG2016 a success for younger leaders in your sphere of influence.
Yours in His care,
Joni Eareckson Tada
