Shirley Holden Carpenter, 83, a retired associate clergy member of the Great Plains United Methodist Conference, of Palmetto, Georgia passed away Nov. 26, 2015. She was born Sept. 22, 1932 in Rochester, New York to the late Henry and Elsie Holden, the youngest of six children.
She is survived by her six children, sons; Carl (Kathy), Scott (Sandy) and Eric (Donna Flanders) Carpenter and daughters; Michele (Dennis) Spaulding, Janice (David) Carpenter Weidner, and Christy (Jason) Nickels.
She served McCool Junction-Bradshaw, Kearney First, Curtis-Garden Prairie, Newman Grove-Looking Glass in Nebraska. She retired as an active pastor in 2002 and moved to Georgia where she continued to serve several different churches in the Henry County area as pastor or music minister.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, 2 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, GA 30281. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to her favorite charity, the Saint Joseph’s Indian School.

Richard H. Urbach, 92, a retired clergy member of the Great Plains United Methodist Church of Golden, Missouri, formerly of Grand Island, Nebraska died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at the Mt. Vernon Veterans Home, Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
Richard H. Urbach was born Aug. 15, 1923, at Harvard, Nebraska, to Conrad John and Elizabeth Magdelene (Yost) Urbach.
While attending seminary he served the United Methodist Church at Danforth, IL. He served parishes for 32 years in Nebraska at Fullerton-North Star, Fremont, and Callaway-Morning Star. He retired in 1984. Richard had served as regional director for Educational Opportunities, Inc. in Nebraska and Colorado, and enjoyed hosting many groups overseas.
Survivors include two sons, Roger and Deb Urbach of San Marcos, CA, and Ronald and Cindy Urbach of Hemet, CA; one daughter, LoAnn and Michael Horst of Golden, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters, and son, Raymond Urbach.
Services will be held at a later date. As per his family’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island, Nebraska, is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held in the Spring in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the family with designation at a later date.
