Advocacy Insider: Put Your Faith Into Action of Prison Fellowship from Lansdowne, Virginia, United States

Advocacy Insider: Put Your Faith Into Action of Prison Fellowship from Lansdowne, Virginia, United States
ADVOCACY INSIDER
If you've been looking for a chance to move the dial on criminal justice reform, we've got an opportunity for you.
A recent nationwide Barna poll, commissioned by Prison Fellowship, revealed that most Christians believe the main goal of the justice system should be restoration. That's encouraging. However, more than half of Christians also agreed that it was OK for someone to receive an unfairly harsh sentence to make an example out of them.
Many Christians have embraced a biblical view of justice, but clearly there's still some work to do to transform attitudes in our churches and in our justice system. Will you join us in this work?
As followers of Christ, we are called to pursue justice (Prov. 31:8–9). If we are all created in the image of God, then we must seek a justice system that is fair and redemptive for all.
Apply to become a Justice Advocate today.
If you're feeling compelled to put your faith into action, but you're not sure where to start, click here. Prison Fellowship trains and equips our Justice Advocates to change hearts and minds by:
Developing strategic relationships with their lawmakers
  • Writing letters to the editor in their local paper about justice that restores
  • Facilitating a small-group discussion using Outrageous Justice, a six-lesson curriculum designed to engage church small groups on issues of crime and incarceration
  • Hosting events on campus, at church, or in their communities to advance the biblically based justice reforms
  • Occassionally contributing to state or legislative research
Hear what it's like firsthand from Sammy Perez, one of our former Justice Advocates who has been hired by Prison Fellowship as a grassroots strategist to train and equip other Justice Advocates:
