TUNE IN: “The Naked Truth: Shadow Town” -Sunday, August 28 @#Health4All for Friday, 26 August 2016
Tune in on Sunday, August 28 at 8pm as FUSION (@Fusion) takes an in-depth look at one of the country’s most underserved communities with “The Naked Truth: Shadow Town.” Kern County, California is one of the least healthy places in the U.S., it has one of the highest poverty rates in the nation, and it’s home to America’s deadliest police force. Many of the residents of south Kern County, especially the poor and the undocumented, are living in the shadow of the American Dream. As part of the journalism fellowship program, Rise Up: Be Heard, FUSION brought a group of young journalists from marginalized communities across the state to Kern County to help put on spotlight on critical issues ranging from police relations to water quality and the undocumented community’s inability to get quality health care, while also highlighting the groups and advocates that are fighting for change. “The Naked Truth: Shadow Town” premieres Sunday, August 28 @ 8PM on FUSION (channel listings). Follow FUSION’s investigative team on Twitter @NakedTruth. Rise Up: Be Heard, which was created with support from The California Endowment, aims to empower the next generation of journalists and community advocates through training and mentorship. The Rise Up: Be Heard fellowship program was one of RiseUp’s first major initiatives. RiseUp is a dedicated social impact unit that focuses on using storytelling and technology to mobilize an increasingly diverse generation of young people to create positive social change in the world. RiseUp initiatives live across FUSION, Univision, and the other platforms in the Fusion Media Group. More work can be seen at FUSION.net.
Sincerely,
The #Health4All Team
