Action Alert: Proposed Medicaid Cuts Will Harm Family Caregivers
Take Action Today!
The President's budget released this spring proposes $610 billion in cuts to the Medicaid program in the next ten years, on top of the House's proposed $800 billion cuts in Medicaid in the ACA repeal/replace bill, the American Health Care Act (more here).
Like many in the health care, LTSS, and aging community, we are concerned that these proposed cuts will greatly harm American families. Medicaid provides several supports for caregiving, including self-directed care services that allow for caregivers to receive financial support in some states, the home- and community-based waiver program (HCBS) that includes caregiver assessment, and long-term services and supports that help to support the care recipient. Many care recipients on the program are also the most vulnerable and in need of support, including people with dementia and low-income seniors.
The Alliance will join other national coalitions in opposing cuts to the Medicaid program. We urgently ask you to call your U.S. Senators today and explain how Medicaid provides essential services and support for family caregivers. To find your representative click here or call (202) 244-3121 to be automatically connected to your senators. We also ask fellow coalitions and organizations to share this information and urge your members to get involved.
