Resurrection West,
It looks to be another beautiful weekend as we gather to worship this Sunday! We will be looking at one of Jesus’ most controversial and challenging parables - the workers in the vineyard - as we continue the Upside Down Kingdom series. I’m excited to share some great learnings from my prayer and study in preparation - and an example of how fairness played out in a RezWest staff competition this past week that led to many of our staff team enjoying homemade omelets at the efforts of one staffer. We still have funds for one more ‘kingdom party’ to sponsor in memory of Scarlett Thompson. We already have two parties in the planning now to reach and share Christ’s love, so if you are considering throwing a party, remember that we will provide $333 toward your ‘kingdom party’. You can host a backyard bouncy-house neighborhood party for kids, a dinner party with your co-workers, a surprise party, nursing home party, back-to-school party, or whatever you imagine. The only guideline is that you reach out to people to connect in community and share Christ's love. Through the building of relationships we will have an opportunity to live out our faith of loving our neighbor and community in Jesus’ name. Our KiDSCOR team is deep in planning and preparing for next week’s VBC and Sports Camp week. Hundreds of kids and dozens of volunteers are counting the hours now until Monday as we begin a week of growing in the ‘Secret Life of Jesus’. A special thank you goes out to so many volunteers who stepped up to help move kids off of the waiting list and into the camps next week! Way to go Church! As you worship on Sunday, I’l invite you to pray over the chair you will be sitting in as we gather on holy ground where kids will hear the life-changing message of Jesus’ love for them. What a privilege it is to help raise a generation of children in the knowledge and call of Jesus!

Explore Your Spiritual Gifts – This 3-week course on Monday nights starts July 10, from 6:30-8:30 pm. You will learn about your God-given spiritual gifts, passions and style. The goal of discovering spiritual gifts is to help us understand how we are gifted to be God's presence to serve in the church and world. Register at cor.org/west/signup. KiDSCOR is calling - Summertime in KiDSCOR means regular volunteers take a break and others dive in for some fun. Many places are still available and in need of volunteers to allow our rooms to stay open in welcoming our many young friends. Head to cor.org/west/teamsummer to select 3 or more dates and be given a t-shirt!
Movie Night on July 14th at 6:30pm. We will all have a vote on the movie coming up on Sunday, July 2nd, announcing the winning movie on July 9th. So save the date for a family-friendly movie night. More to come!
RezWest Lake Worship Event on August 6th. On that afternoon we will gather together at Kill Creek Park beach for some swim time fun, followed by worship on the beach (we will move our evening service to the beach that Sunday) and share in a moving baptism service together. We already have a few registered to be baptized in Kill Creek lake and maybe you, or members of your family, are also ready to receive baptism. You can pre-register for baptism by going to cor.org/west/baptisms. When you are completing the online form and it comes to the date and service time request, simply write in ‘August 6th lake baptism’. This will certainly be a memorable and exciting night together and a great night to invite a friend!

Summer 2017 Thursday Live – Make plans now to attend Summer 2017 ThursdayLive! Session dates: July 6, 13, 20, and 27 from 9:30-11:30 am, downstairs at RezWest. Cost for the class is $10 per person. - Session Topic: The 100 Most Important Bible Verses for Women by Lila Empson, facilitated by Diane Robertson. The 100 Most Important Bible Verses for Women helps today's women, who are often over-stretched and frazzled, learn the life-giving principles of scripture that are directly applicable to their lives as women. Women of all ages – whether they've studied the Bible for years or they've studied it at all – will love this!

Finally, we’ve been praying all week for two mission teams; a team in New York led by pastor’s Chris and Lisa Holliday and our 8th-12th grade team serving all week in Colorado led by youth pastor - Rick Webb. You can see picks of the Colorado team on our Facebook page by clicking here. We are so proud of our teens who serve in the summer to share the love of Christ!
Note that next Sunday, July 2, will be a ‘worship together’ Sunday where we invite our kids into worship with us at all four services. Nursery will be available for 6 months - Pre-K. We will have a children’s moment and conclude the Upside Down series looking at the what are often called the ‘parables of responsibility’.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday as we gather to sing, pray, and grow in our understanding of the teachings of Jesus (the same parables our kids will be learning about all week at VBC)!
