Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
We've been watching the weather and it appears the snow is going to be farther to the east but it will still be chilly in the morning for our Easter Egg Hunt. This party is the launch of our Holy Week activities. The KiDSCOR crew has been working hard this week and have all the eggs stuffed and all kinds of fun things planned for the children tomorrow. Make sure the kids come in warm coats and hats because the egg hunt and petting zoo will be outside. It's at 10 am, rain (snow) or shine. I'll have to admit we're saying a little prayer for "shine." Don't forget we're collecting 18-oz jars of peanut butter for our Healthy Foundations backpack ministry. If you'd like to contribute bring a jar when you come.
This Sunday is Palm Sunday, the day that marks Jesus’ triumphant entry into the holy city of Jerusalem before he began his journey to the cross. As he entered into the city, people greeted him like a conquering king waiving palm braches and shouting, “Hosanna, in the Highest.” This weekend we’ll have a chance to do the same thing in worship with our KidsCOR children leading the way in a Palm procession at both of our services. During the sermon, we'll continue with our "Witnesses at the Cross" sermon series with a look at the Roman soldiers. How they mocked Jesus, struck him, spat on him and took his clothes and yet one who was with them at the cross became the first to proclaim Jesus as the Son of God.
After this weekend, we'll gather for Maundy Thursday at 6:30 pm for a simple meal, holy communion and a tenabrae service where we remember the final moments of Jesus' life through the characters we've been exploring these last few weeks. In this service the light will grow increasingly dimmer as we approach Jesus' last breath. Good Friday we want to encourage each of you to spend some time in prayer. We will provide prayers guides for you to pick up after worship this Sunday to guide your personal prayer time. Then Easter Sunday we will offer three worship services at 7:30, 9:00 and 10:45 am. There will not be KidsCOR on Easter but we will have nursery for our youngest and worship packets available for the kids in worship.
We didn't make t-shirts as Andrew suggested last week but we do have stickers for our usher/greeters this week to remind our regular attenders to "Park Far, Sit Close and Come Early" on Easter Sunday in order to provide radical hospitality to our guests. Also, please consider offering an hour of your time to serve at one of the Holy Week activities, either as an usher, greeter, parking lot attendant, childcare worker or be an extra pair of hands at our Easter party tomorrow. Help us show radical hospitality to all who come through our doors! I'm excited to share this week with our community and am praying for a full house at all three of our worship services. I hope you've already extended an invitation or are thinking about who you might invite this week to join us.
Here are more details about what's coming up:
Community Easter Egg Hunt Join us for this awesome family event for early childhood - elementary age children on Saturday, March 28, at 10 am (rain or shine). We will have a petting zoo, a variety of kid-friendly activities and crafts and, of course, an egg hunt! No registration is required, just bring your kids, their friends, the neighbors and don't forget the Easter baskets. Please consider donating an 18-oz jar of peanut butter for our Healthy Foundations backpack ministry when you come. We could still use extra hands, so if you’d be willing to volunteer, contact Diane.Enlow@cor.org.
Maundy Thursday Supper and Tenebrae Service Thursday, April 2nd at 6:30 pm. At this service, we remember the night Jesus shared the Last Supper with his disciples, washed their feet and gave the command to love one another as he entrusted them to continue living this way after he was gone. We'll share a meal ending with holy communion and then close the evening with a Tenabrae (meaning "darkness") service with meditations from witnesses of the final hours of Jesus' life. This is always a powerful evening. The children are encouraged to stay through the meal and communion and then the youngest may want to go back for childcare as the tone becomes more somber and the lights extinguish through the service.
Easter Worship Services We hope you will come worship with us this Easter as we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. We welcome many visitors on Easter weekend - some who may be searching for a church home. To make room for them, we need our regular attenders to commit to sit close, park far and come early! Service times are 7:30, 9:00 and 10:45 am. There will not be KidsCOR on Easter but we will have nursery for our youngest and worship packets available for the kids in worship.

The second session begins April 8, and focuses on how the community lives out their Covenant in faithful love and how it’s applied to actual relationships in everyday life. A full participant guide for the class is $50, which includes all three installments, or you may purchase an 8-wk session for $20. Scholarships available.
