The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection West of Olathe, Kansas, United States Enote from Pastor Jason Gant for Friday, 13 March 2015
Resurrection West,
This Sunday it will be my honor to preach live as we reflect upon two more witnesses of the crucifixion; Mary, the mother of Jesus and John, the disciple whom Jesus loved. Sunday will be what we call a “family worship Sunday”. This simply means we welcome all children, teens, and adults to be in worship together. This gives us the opportunity to worship across generations and give our Sunday school teachers a respite during spring break. There will also be NO rezlife Youth Groups on Wednesday evening, March 18th. Sunday School will resume on March 22nd at all services and both middle school and high school youth groups will resume on March 25th.
You will notice on the north side of the building that we are in the process of putting in our temporary playground for our Kids COR programming. We had planned on doing this as soon as we knew which direction our phase 2 construction would be headed. We are now taking steps to put this into action. Over the next couple of weeks you will see some safety fencing, mulch, and outdoor play gear going up! Here are just a few pics of the temporary playground as it is being developed and some of the playsets that have come in so far.
Take a look at our Branching out: making room for all web-site that includes building design plans, testimonies, and more. This week Vicki Holdman, Director of Children’s Ministries writes a blog entitled “Babies, babies, and more babies”.Go to branchingout.rezwest.org

Thursday Live Morning Session:
Hearing God, Dallas Willard led by Dave Robertson - Being close to God means communicating with him--telling him what is on our hearts in prayer and hearing and understanding what he is saying to us. The key is to focus not so much on individual actions and decisions as on building our personal relationship with our Creator.
Ever After, Vicki Courtney led by Anne Strempke. Marriage and motherhood are hard and no matter how much we give or how hard we try, we may never feel like it's enough. The Ever After Bible study addresses the difficulties and blessings of marriage and motherhood. Most of all, it reflects the hope that Christ meets us wherever we are in the journey and that He alone is the answer to the happily ever after we long for.
The Road to Wisdom written and led by Dennis and Reve Butler - The Road to Wisdom unlocks the puzzle of human behavior--who am I, and why do I behave the way I do--and provides definitive answers that will forever change how you understand yourself and those around you! This book is relevant for individuals in all positions and walks of life: leaders, managers, employees, parents, spouses/significant others, brothers/sisters, friends, clergy, educators, therapists, and those who are healthy or unhealthy in their emotional behavior.
Thursday Live Evening Session
Unglued, Lysa TerKeurst led by Stephanie Makalous. Lysa TerKeurst admits that she, like most women, has experiences where others bump into her happy and she comes emotionally unglued. We stuff, we explode, or react somewhere in between. What do we do with these raw emotions? Is it really possible to make emotions work for us instead of against us?
Finally, this past week was the men's retreat at the Leawood campus. Hundreds of guys were there from all four campuses. It was a great time of worship, message, prayer, and connection as men of faith. Many of our west campus guys were there. I wanted to thank our guys who were so encouraging to me before I spoke at one of the sessions. When I got up front to teach I even heard a few "woots" and "claps", as if to say "that's our guy up there". Thanks for making me feel so connected as your pastor here at Resurrection West! I am humbled by your words and grateful to be on the west team!!
Looking forward to worshiping with you on Sunday,
Pastor Jason
