In Memoriam
Adelaide Harrington
With deep sympathy and prayers, we share news of the passing ofAdelaide Stevens Harrington of our congregation.
Adelaide passed from this life on Monday, April 27, at home in Redondo Beach, CA; she was born on June 29, 1919 in Long Beach, CA. She is survived by her daughter, Lianna (Abdul Siddiqui), as well as five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross; and son, Steven.
Adelaide lived in southern California for most all of her life. While a sociology student at the University of Redlands, she met Ross Harrington; she shared 58 years of marriage with Ross before his passing in 2002. She worked as a social worker, in personnel, and as an insurance claims adjuster supervisor. Adelaide and Ross joined the church in 1963. After Ross retired as the Superintendent of Schools in Redondo Beach, they were able to share in a mutual love of travel. During her final months, Adelaide was able to be at home, with the help of Hospice care and her daughter, Lianna.
There will be a memorial service for Adelaide at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 at the church. There will be a private burial at another time, at Mt. View Memorial Park in Altadena, CA.
"O Lord, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. Look down upon our sorrowing hearts today, we humbly pray, and be gracious. Help all who mourn to cast every care upon you, and find comfort, through Jesus Christ our Lord."
