PRAISES:
Member Released
Thank you for your prayers. Last week via the PML Facebook page, we requested urgent prayer for a church member who was being questioned in a sensitive area of the world. The next day, we received word that the church member was allowed to go home, but told to return this week (date is yet unknown). Please continue to pray that God will be glorified in this situation.
Nazarenes Could Respond Immediately
The Church of the Nazarene in the Philippines was able to respond immediately after Typhoon Koppu—or Lando, as it is called locally—earlier this month. Thanks to donations that had been given previously through the Asia-Pacific Disaster Relief Fund, the church in the area was equipped to respond quickly and effectively. Field Strategy Coordinator Stephen Gualberto said. "We shall continue to keep you posted as new information comes in. Thank you for your partnership and prayers." PRAY FOR:
GLOBAL MINISTRY REQUESTS
Victims of Hurricane Patricia
Please pray for the victims in the aftermath of Hurricane Patricia. Church leaders in Mexico requested prayer and support after the storm made landfall on Friday evening in areas of Mexico where half the people live in poverty. Nazarene churches in Melaque and Barra Navidad have been affected, as there is no safe drinking water or power in these areas. In Puerto Vallarta, several church families were waiting to be evacuated and churches are being used as shelters. Four Nazarene churches have been affected. Visit www.ncm.org/mexico to learn more or give support.
October Missionary Prayer Focus
Please pray for the following requests from missionaries who are part of the October Prayer Focus:
Paul and Beatrice Mtambo, Zambia
Pray for students at our Bible college who are facing financial challenges.
Pray for leaders of new churches that have been started recently.
Pray for our pastors and leaders to discern God’s will for their ministries.
Pray for our retired pastors, that all their needs will be met.
Bobby and Alyssa Forest, USA/Canada
Please ask for the Lord to supply a place to live.
Pray as the Forests settle into their new assignment and adjust to culture shock and a five-hour time difference.
Pray for their financial needs.
Ask God to supply a part-time job for Alyssa that will build some friendships/rapport with locals and to provide insurance for the family.
More than anything, pray that God will shine through the Forests and help them to disciple the people nearby, so those people can take the message to theirohana (family) and that the Lord will get all the glory!

Even though some church members were affected by flooding, Stephen Gualberto, field strategy coordinator in the Philippines and Micronesia, says, “Churches became the refuge of displaced families.” As local Nazarene congregations work to respond to the needs in their communities following the typhoon, church leaders ask for prayer support. “Please join us as we pray for the affected communities and families, that they may find strength in the Lord at this time of hardship,” Gualberto said. “We shall continue to keep you posted as new information comes in. Thank you for your partnership and prayers.”

Nazarene Work on the Ukraine District—Countries of Ukraine and Moldova*
·       Nazarene work in the country of Ukraine developed before the church officially entered the country in 1992. One year prior, a lay couple, Jim and Donna Welchly, followed their passion to see the Gospel reach the people who lived behind what had been known as the Iron Curtain. Going to Moscow, Russia, the Welchlys distributed Bibles and shared their Christian faith. Many people came to know Christ because of their work. In late 1991, the Welchlys moved to Ukraine to register the Church of the Nazarene. The first Nazarene church in the former Soviet Union was started in February 1992 in Ukraine’s capital city, Kiev. Soon, the Kiev Church was averaging more than 200 weekly in worship. Today there are 18 Nazarene churches in Ukraine.
·       Moldova is a landlocked country bordered by Romania to the west and Ukraine to the north, east, and south. The Church of the Nazarene entered the country of Moldova in 2009. Prior to that time, the denomination had no presence in this former Soviet nation. Alcoholism and addiction are widespread problems in Moldova, so Nazarene leaders sent Sergei and Irina Talalay, Russian Nazarenes, as missionaries. Sergei is a former alcoholic who found freedom through a Nazarene addiction rehabilitation ministry in Russia. The Talalays launched addiction rehabilitation work in conjunction with church planting. Today there is 1 Nazarene church in Moldova.
Praise the Lord for the work of the Church of the Nazarene in Ukraine and Moldova. Father, we ask You to keep the work vital, meeting the needs of the people and bringing them into a personal relationship with You.
