Call to Prayer: San Bernardino Shooting
Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño calls the California-Pacific Conference to prayer in the midst of the tragedy unfolding in San Bernardino, CA.
East District Superintendent Rev. Jan Wiley is in close communication with the churches and pastors in the area as they pray about how to respond to this event.
One connection to note in our prayers is that of Rev. Cynthia Huskey of Highland UMC whose son receives services from the center where the shooting occurred, but through a facility in a separate location.
Word of support and prayer for our California-Pacific Conference are being received from throughout the Connection, including a prayer shared on the phone with Bishop Carcaño from New England Conference Resident Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar and a note from Greg Forrester, Assistant General Secretary of the United Methodist Committee on Relief, who kept us in prayer after seeing the news on the television while waiting for a flight at an airport in Detroit.
Further information about this tragic event will be made available as the situation develops.
Lord, in your mercy...
