Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
Fall is officially here in my book, with Labor day over and the new season of classes and activities starting. The backpack crew did their first fill for the weekend backpacks of food we send home to supplement some of the families from Paul Kinder Middle school and Lucy Franklin Elementary. By the way, the fill day has changed to Tuesday's at 1 pm for this school year, so if you'd like to take part, come on up on Tuesday afternoon and join the team. They have a lot of fun together.
Our Alpha and Disciple 1 & 2 classes began this week and Rezmoms gathered on Thursday evening to get acquainted and make plans for the rest of the year. Their plan is to have a meeting and an outing every month. Moms, if you haven't connected with this group, check out the RezMoms Blue Springs Facebook page to learn of their upcoming plans. There is nothing better than to connect with other parents when you're in the exhausting trenches of parenting.
This leads me to mention that our parenting class on the Conscious Discipline technique will be starting this coming Monday evening. We have over 25 parents currently signed up and there's room for more. Also, if you are beyond this phase of parenting, you could help serve these parents by volunteering in the nursery during this class. Contact Caitlin Willis, our nursery coordinator, if you'd be availabe to help.
Tonight our singles are headed to the Grain Valley fair for some fun and fellowship together. Then tomorrow we have a great opportunity to serve the children and youth in our community. We're headed to The Closet, an outreach of the Blue Springs School District at Valley View High School. We'll be working from 10 am - 12 pm sorting shoes and changing out clothes from summer to fall. Fifth grade on up are invited to participate in this Faithwork.
Sunday Pastor Adam will continue our sermon series on Moses. He'll take us to Mt. Sinai where Moses receives the Ten Commandments for the Israelites. We'll take a look at Exodus 19 and 20 and how these laws continue to shape our relationship to God. We will also be offering our prayers for the 15th anniversary of 9/11 and sharing in Holy Communion together. Then Sunday evening our youth, 6th - 12th grade, are invited to the first Rezlife of the new school year. They'll start together with pizza, then break into Middle and High School group sessions.
As you can see, there is a lot happening and more details about each of these events can be found below. My hope is that you'll take advantage of one of these opportunities to get involved and invite someone else to come along with you.
Be sure to take a close look below at all the classes and activities we have starting soon to see if God is calling you to get further connected in study and in community. . . . . .
