Gateway Church Family, Date: Thursday, 21 December 2017
Christmas Eve Services – Don’t forget to remember that Sunday is Christmas Eve and we will be celebrating with a candlelight service and so much more this Sunday morning. We will NOT have an evening service. I understand that the powers-to-be have something quite special planned. No leaks!
8:30 AM - Regular time but not a regular service. You will be so Blessed.
9:45 AM – Party on the Patio – Birthday Celebration (you know who right?)
11:00 AM - Regular time but not a regular service. Your last chance to be Blessed.
Note: There will be a 5:20 Service on Saturday Evening. Of course, this will also be a Superior Celebration
Moving Forward - Be sure to look for the big announcement in the bulletin this week. We have a status report on our capital campaign for the new Children’s wing. Looks very good…you all have been faithful to your pledges and your giving. Then take the time to check out our children’s classrooms on Sunday. Whenever the children have an event or special Sunday, Pastor Chipo said she has to stack the children 2 high…or something like that. If you can find it in your heart to help close the final gap in our fund-raising campaign we could start this much-needed construction by mid-2018. No pressure, after all it is Christmas a time of giving…OK and receiving. I’ll talk to Santa and his guys to see what we can do here.
Time Off For Good Behavior – Yep, it’s true, your hard-working staff and the OFFICE will be “gone fishing” (ie: CLOSED) during the week between Christmas and New Years’. They will be taking some much-needed R&R (really?) to get ready for next year. So please feel free to call them anytime (day or night) for any type of emergency or even less. The COO will be dining with the Pope (not) that week so that would not be a good choice. E-mail and texts are also welcomed and blocked. The OFFICE will reopen on January 2nd to pay your respects and offer a critique (it’s called judgement).
We will be having our regular Sunday services on January 31st and the regular 5:20 service will meet on Sat. January 30th.
PRINTED Photo Directories – We will be printing the first edition of the “printed directory” on December 26th. You can still send in your pictures and information before that date and we will include it in the printed directory. By the way, if you don’t have your picture in yet, just take a “selfie” and send it to photodirectory@gatewaynaz.org. I will take it from there.
You can pick up your printed directories on Sunday 12/31. Donation is $5.00 plus a tip for the COO fund.

Pictorial Directory – A Who Done It? by; Gene Spinozzi.
There are some very special people in my life today as we close the launch of the Photo Directory. This has been a dream of mine for the last 2 ½ years and today I see it as a dream come true. Why, because I wanted (and I know most of you do to) to know everyone by face and name. Now, within seconds and just by reaching into my pocket, I can do just that.
A lot of you have thanked me and it’s been quite gratifying to hear but what you didn't’t know is that I was only maybe 20% of this project. There are four other people that have made the directory a successful reality.
It all started with Jean Lovett my technical adviser and my go to person for problem solving and to set up the directory’s programming. There were many times that her full-time job at the library got in “my” way but I have tried to be understanding; who could not admire her supportive, selfless and talented participation.
Then there is the dynamic duo, Reg and Rebecca Fujimoto. Most of you heard them say “smile,” yah, let’s try that again…OK, that’ll just have to do.” Not only did these Media and Photographic Technologists take the pictures, they had to photo shop most of them and then upload them carefully into the directory in just the right way to make y'all look good.
And finally, there was our Director of Data Input and Information Resources, Linda Weber. At last count, she processed over 23,000 key strokes and many long hours. Not to mention the follow up and error corrections and requested changes. I’m sure she had a few tired fingers and some sort of syndrome I’m sure. As you might expect, Herb was of no help at all.
Thank you, Jean, Rebecca, Reg and Linda, for your time, effort and heartfelt support.

Note: The company assures me that they are working on their overloaded servers and will be able eliminate the blurry pictures on the phone app by early 2018.
