Make your year complete: Give hope and healing in 2017
The Advent season was about expectation — “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” the excitement of children looking forward to Christmas Day.
But, now that Christmas Day is past, and we are in that strange in-between week, the last week of the year, many of us turn from expectation to thoughts of completion. Have we accomplished what we hoped to accomplish? Is there still unfinished business to tend to before the new year begins?
So often we think of accomplishment in terms of “getting.” But a full life — a life of abundance — is more about giving than getting.
I don’t know what you have hoped to accomplish in 2017. But I do know that without generosity, all of our accomplishments are incomplete, even hollow. We are blessed so that we can be a blessing to others.
One of life’s great blessings is the opportunity to be a part of God’s work of bringing hope and healing to a world that desperately needs it. For 70 years, United Methodists have participated in that work through The Advance.
Visit www.umcmission.org today, choose the missionaries and/or projects who are doing work that is close to your heart, and give as generously as you can. There’s no better way to finish your year strong.
With blessings and thanks for your generosity,
