INCOMMON Church of the Nazarene in San Diego, California, United States for Sunday, 14 October 2018 with Pastor Jeff Jimenez

1 I exhort you, therefore, brothers, in view of God’s mercies, to offer yourselves as a sacrifice, living and set apart for God. This will please him; it is the logical “Temple worship” for you. 2 In other words, do not let yourselves be conformed to the standards of the ‘olam hazeh. Instead, keep letting yourselves be transformed by the renewing of your minds; so that you will know what God wants and will agree that what he wants is good, satisfying and able to succeed. 3 For I am telling every single one of you, through the grace that has been given to me, not to have exaggerated ideas about your own importance. Instead, develop a sober estimate of yourself based on the standard which God has given to each of you, namely, trust. 4 For just as there are many parts that compose one body, but the parts don’t all have the same function; 5 so there are many of us, and in union with the Messiah we comprise one body, with each of us belonging to the others.
What do consider a church and to be your church?
When do you know you belong to a church that you have been going to?
We are a people of God who are made up of a diversity of people.
Ask James why he yelled out "Why Lord?"
We must realize that we should think more highly of others than ourselves.  What is happening with my son James? Is it this sermon or is it ehat he has found out on his phone/tablet.
Always rememeber that we are not the center of the universe. What is happening to my son tonight?
We must realize that we are a part of a community and we are not better than others because we all have gifts to offer the community that works with other people's gifts.
This message can teach myself and my son how to be content with who we are and not desire to be the center of attention.
We are met to live in community with the body of Christ, the church.
*Too often people with disabilities do not feel apart of the church because they are not allowed to give their God given gifts for building up God's kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven.
Usually, it is the small things we do with and for others in the church community. The pastors are suppose to have this attitude as well. People do not grow churches, God does.
Too often, I have attempted to raise James to think this way, but he hears and sees differently from leaders in the church, lay and clergy.
May we approach the Holy Eucharist in realizing we are a part of his church with our gifts and graces along with other people's gifts and graces.
