Take a quick look at what's coming up:
Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
I hope your Friday is off to a great start. I spent this week doing a gratitude check. Remember how we told you on Sunday that you needed to have an emergency savings fund set aside. Well, it looks like we'll be tapping into ours a bit. Monday night, Bill traveled to McPherson, KS to check on his dad who has been in poor health. On the way to his Aunt and Uncles to spend the night, he hit an 8 point buck going 70 mph . He didn't even have time to put on his brakes. He's OK but it totaled our Volvo. Thank goodness he was driving this car! So this week, I've been much more aware of all the things I have to be thankful for and offering those praises to God.
One of the things I'm thankful for is the great group of folks who decided at Monday night's Coffee with the Pastor to make Resurrection Blue Springs their church home. I want to welcome New Members: Grant & Karen Anthony, Maggie Jones & Josh Belcher, Diane & Jim Clark, Jan Hintz, Ryan Lesh & Kimberly Brush (Dillan Brush, Ellie Brush, Logan Brush, Zoey Lesh and Garrett Brush). We'll introduce this group at worship on Sunday and welcome them into the community.
I also want to give a big thanks to the 63 people who participated in the Impacting the Globe food packing event at Cordell Mason Elementary School last Saturday. We had ages 5 on up take part in assembling and packing food to be sent to third world countries. We did a rough count and figured our group alone packed over 129,000 meals. I'm grateful to the person who had the vision to bring the whole community together for this worthy endeavor. It was great to be working side by side with folks from all around Blue Springs.
This Sunday we continue our three week sermon series on "Your Money or and Your Life." We'll be spending this week exploring the unexpected joy found in generously using our time, talent and resources. And what that might look like for you. I will be examining how we honor God with our giving. We'll also be collecting our pledge cards for the 2016 budget. I hope you've spent some time in prayer carefully considering how God is calling you to give. I want to encourage you, as you're making your pledging decisions this week to consider using electronic funds transfers. They are easy to set up and ensure your faithful support of our ministry even if you are out of town or forget one week. You can learn how to set it up here.
Finally, if you're over 50 and don't have any plans for this evening. Come on up and join our Baby Boomers for an evening of fun and games. Bring a favorite board game and a snack to share at 6:30 pm.
