Psalm 25:(0) By David:
(1) I lift my inner being to you, Adonai;
2 I trust you, my God.
Don’t let me be disgraced,
don’t let my enemies gloat over me.
3 No one waiting for you will be disgraced;
disgrace awaits those who break faith for no reason.
4 Make me know your ways, Adonai,
teach me your paths.
5 Guide me in your truth, and teach me;
for you are the God who saves me,
my hope is in you all day long.
6 Remember your compassion and grace, Adonai;
for these are ages old.
7 Don’t remember my youthful sins or transgressions;
but remember me according to your grace
for the sake of your goodness, Adonai.
8 Adonai is good, and he is fair;
this is why he teaches sinners the way [to live],
9 leads the humble to do what is right
and teaches the humble [to live] his way.
10 All Adonai’s paths are grace and truth
to those who keep his covenant and instructions.
11 For the sake of your name, Adonai,
forgive my wickedness, great though it is.
"God of Mercy and Love" by Author: Rhonda Carrim
David understood the basis on which he could approach God. When establishing the covenant at Sinai, God passed before Moses declaring: “The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin” (Exod. 34:6-7a). On this foundation, David approached God with trust and hope, humility and repentance.
God is trustworthy because of His great mercy and love. God willingly instructs sinners and guides the humble because He is good and upright. David fully recognized his own sinfulness and without presumption called on God to be true to himself in forgiving the sins of the humble penitent.
What relief and encouragement is ours when we recognize that we don’t have to earn the right to come before God. If that were the case, we would never know God as Savior. It is God's nature to to be trustworthy and forgiving. Our role is to humble ourselves by acknowledging our need and repenting of our sins. Only then can we move forward on the journey of walking in the ways of God.
Hymn for Today: "Behold The Throne of Grace" by John Newton
1. Behold the Throne of grace!
The promise calls me near:
There Jesus shows a smiling face
And waits to answer prayer.
2. My soul, ask what thou wilt;
Thou canst not be too bold;
Since His own blood for thee He spilt,
What else can He withhold?
3. Thine image, Lord, bestow,
Thy presence and Thy love;
I ask to serve Thee here below,
And reign with Thee above.
4. Teach me to live by faith;
Conform my will to Thine;
Let me victorious be in death,
And then in glory shine.
Amen.
Thought for Today:
"Therefore, let us confidently approach the throne from which God gives grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace in our time of need." Hebrrews 4:16
Please pray:
For the new believers from the JESUS film showings as they are discipled by local churches in Mesoamerica.
