Dear Saint Paul Community,
The 2015 Peace Lecture featured Rev. Dr. James A. Forbes, Jr. Rev. Dr. Forbes was ranked by Newsweek and Ebony magazines as one of the 12 most effective preachers in the English-speaking world. He pastored the Riverside Church in New York City, an interdenominational, interracial and international church. Dr. Forbes serves as President of the Healing of the Nations Foundation and as the Harry Emerson Fosdick Distinguished Professor at Union Theological Seminary. The magic of internet and clouds (and all other manner of things I don't understand) and livestreaming allowed alums and friends of Saint Paul to hold watch parties in Nebraska, Kansas, California and Vermont. An additional 70 individuals joined online. The Royals World Series game stole away a few attendees!
Prior to the evening lecture, Saint Paul School of Theology sponsored a luncheon with Dr. Forbes. A special thanks to Scott Chrostek, lead pastor, and the team from Resurrection Downtown for their awesome hospitality which included

assisting guests with parking and umbrellas for the drizzly weather. Clergy from both the Missouri and Kansas sides of the stateline enjoyed fellowship, food and inspiring time with Dr. Forbes. Dr. Mark Holland, Mayor/CEO of the Unified Government/KCK.
I am pleased to announce that Kelly Willoughby (Class of '85 and founder of Good Works KC) has joined the Advancement Team part-time to focus on relationships with Saint Paul alums. David Sisney, Kelly and I attended Holy Conversations in St. Louis and Columbia, MO. I always come away inspired as I listen to alums talk about their ministries and donors share why they believe in Saint Paul and give for scholarships, general fund and the new Fellows program. Special thanks to SunRise UMC in O'Fallon, Missouri and Missouri UMC in Columbia, Missouri for hosting us.
The first female Chief of Naval Chaplains, Rear Admiral Margaret Kibben, was on the Saint Paul: Resurrection campus and met with students, faculty and staff.

Rear Admiral Kibben shared what a day in the life of a military chaplain could include. I hear the Q & A was lively and educational. Rev. Patrick Moore(DMin '14) was able to be present. Patrick watched his wife, Rev. Stephanie Moore (MDiv '11) , receive his doctoral hood during commencement while he was on active chaplain duty in Africa. Thanks to Dr. Jeanne Hoeft and Associate Dean of Students Margaretta Narcisse for making this opportunity available.
It was delightful to participate in Dr. Nancy Howell's installation into the Oubri A.

Poppele Chair of Health and Welfare Ministries on Tuesday, November 3. She spoke with the lecture entitled, Wisdom, Wonder, and Serendipity, concluding that,"God is the one who is intimately involved in every life. The hope is that we one day treat each other, and all of God's creation, as sacred."
