The apostle Paul led the Galatians through a massive culture shift in which they had to radically expand their ideas of
who God is, who they were, and God’s mission for the church. Paul was able to lead them through this unsettling time because of his encounter with the risen Christ on the Damascus road. Today, the church is undergoing a cultural shift just as challenging as the situation that confronted Paul and the Galatians. We can learn from their experience.
Dr. Elaine Heath, dean of Duke Divinity School and co-founder of the Missional Wisdom Foundation, offers us spiritual wisdom and insight for navigating the

system changes and culture shifts in her new book, God Unbound: Wisdom from Galatians for the Anxious Church.
Starting tomorrow, this UMC prayer community will be reading, studying, and praying together using God Unbound and Paul’s Letter to the Galatians. Together we will learn where and how God is leading the church to cultivate courageous, Spirit-led wisdom during this time of uncertainty, tough conversations, and unprecedented change.
