Faith Journey (4)" Bible Reading: James 5:13-18 for Saturday, 10 September 2016
James 5:13 Is someone among you in trouble? He should pray. Is someone feeling good? He should sing songs of praise.
14 Is someone among you ill? He should call for the elders of the congregation. They will pray for him and rub olive oil on him in the name of the Lord. 15 The prayer offered with trust will heal the one who is ill — the Lord will restore his health; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, openly acknowledge your sins to one another, and pray for each other, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. 17 Eliyahu was only a human being like us; yet he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and no rain fell on the Land for three years and six months. 18 Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the Land produced its crops.

After I became a Christian, I wanted to know more and more about the Bible. When I read a story that Jesus told, I felt like He was talking directly to me! God was answering my prayers, and my faith was growing and growing. I realize now that I would soon need a strong faith to get me through some bad times.
By the time I was 27 years old, I had gone through ten surgeries. When I had my tenth surgery, I got an infection and was sick for a long time. Then the doctor said I needed another surgery. The pain was so bad that I finally agreed to the surgery. When I woke up after surgery, our minister was standing by my bed, praying for me. I knew then that I would be alright.
My faith grew through good times and bad times. God was always with me to help me, no matter what was happening in my life. Through all those times, prayer was a very important part of my life.
In our Bible Reading, James talks about the importance of prayer. Be sure to talk to God today.[DF]
"Anyone who lives the way God wants can pray, and great things will happen."[James 5:16b]
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for always watching over me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
