X-CITING WORSHIP
Sunday Worship.  We would love to see you at 9a in the Sanctuary and 11:30a in the New Worship Center (formerly the Ministry Mall) Worshipers are invited to wear casual clothing and enjoy their own beverages in the Worship Center at the Paseo Campus and 10:30a at the Renaissance Campus.  I hope you will share this thrilling news with others who might be looking for a different kind of worship experience at 11:30a ~ Paseo Campus.  *You can also join us online for a live stream of the worship celebrations each week

Access to Kidz Kingdom is limited to volunteers and parents dropping off children Sundays between the hours of 8:30a - 1:00p and Wednesdays between 6:30p - 8p.  Parents will check in children at the Great Hall and Administrative entrances to Kidz Kingdom.  Members needing to access the Fellowship Hall or kitchen should enter through the exterior doors on Paseo, or use the south stairwell adjacent to the Worship Center (formerly the Ministry Mall).


NOMINATIONS & LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT TRAINING
Church Leaders, please add to your calendars, the year's first NLDT training scheduled Saturday, January 20 from 9:30a - 2:30p.  This will be a joint leadership event for St. James and Church of the Resurrection's church leaders.  Dr. Cleaver and Rev. Hamilton will be key presenters.
  
The Allies for Racial Justice Team (a partnership between St. James and Church of the Resurrection) have developed, and are sponsoring the training which will be held at the Paseo campus.  Morning refreshments, and a boxed lunch are included.  Please indicate your plans to attend by registering.

COMMITTED TO CHRIST
Committed to Christ is a church-wide discipleship journey with the potential to transform every household and the church itself. For this reason we want our entire congregation to get in on this transformational experience.  We invite you to join us as our focus this week is on "Bible Reading."
  • To continue the journey we ask that you, pray over your "Week 2. Bible Reading Commitment Card"(pink), complete and return it this Sunday.
  • You also have the option to purchase a "Committed to Christ Devotional" for $4.00.
  • The devotional can be used during your personal time of devotion or with your "Small Group." Your group can consist of family, friends, meet and greet groups, clubs or others.  You can meet at home, a restaurant, the library or wherever you choose.

We've taken Tuesday nights to a new level with multiple opportunities to learn the Word of God.
  • Journey "Thru the Bible" chapter by chapter. 6p-7p
  • Encounter "something different" (Pastor led) as we cover 4 principals of living to start off the New Year.  How to LIVE, LOVE, HOPE & REPEAT it all again! 7p-7:45p
  • Kids Zone - fun and expressive activities for children under the age of 12. 6:30p-7:45p

Senior Fitness & Bible Study.  Join us at the Paseo Campus Wednesdays from 11-11:30a for light to moderate exercise done from the comfort of a chair!  A trained fitness expert will guide you through exercises that help strengthen your body.  Then, stay for Bible Study from 11:30a -12:30p and get strengthened in the spirit!  Feel free to bring a dish and join us in the potluck lunch following our study time.

Adult Sunday School.  There are three adult classes offered at the Paseo Campus.  Classes for Men, Women and Mixed Adults are held at 10:30a on the 2nd floor.

CONGREGATIONAL CARE
Christian Sympathy is extended to the family of Robert Newsome, husband of Pamela Newsome, and father of Cicely Trotter.

The Alan and Austin Campbell St. James Acolyte Scholarship - Applicants must have be a graduating high school senior, have been an active member of any combination of St. James Ministries for 2 years; and have been an active acolyte member for at least 2 years during your membership at St. James United Methodist Church. Volunteers In Mission Team 2018 UMCOR Mission Trip

Baldwin, Louisiana, April 28 - May 4, 2018.  Plans are being finalized for our St. James VIM Team annual mission trip to the United Methodist Committee on Relief Sager Brown Depot in Baldwin, Louisiana.  The dates are April 28 through May 4, 2018.  All members who have expressed interest in joining this mission trip, please contact Alice Ellison at ellisonalicem@gmail.com.  Our total number of St. James participant's needs to be confirmed with UMCOR in December.

Welcome Center.  Ministry teams of the Paseo and Renaissance Campuses have partnered to create inviting welcome areas for members and guests (outside the sanctuary).  Stop by to:

St. James is honored to host Project FIT at our church. Project FIT  (a free 12 week program.) The program will include activities designed to help us all lead healthier lifestyles. What a great way to improve our health and experience the "abundant life" that God desires for all of us.

To kick off the program, a team from UMKC Community Health Research Group and the School of Medicine will be here on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 6:00p - 7:30p to tell you more about Project FIT and to find out who may be interested in participating. I hope that you are as excited about this opportunity as I am, and that you plan to be here to hear about it.
