8 For you used to be darkness; but now, united with the Lord, you are light. Live like children of light, 9 for the fruit of the light is in every kind of goodness, rightness and truth — 10 try to determine what will please the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the deeds produced by darkness, but instead expose them,

Yesterday we talked about the importance of light. It is hard to work or play in the dark. You can't see what your hands are doing. You can't see where your feet are walking.
Our Bible verses today talk about light. Verse 8 says, "In the past you were full of darkness, but now you are full of light in the Lord. So live like children who belong to the light." How can we live so that others will see the light of Jesus in us? We can do kind things for people. This will help them see God's love. We can pray for people. Our prayers will help them see God working in their lives. We can go to church and other times of fellowship with Christians. This will show people that God is important to you.
Do you know people who live in the darkness without Jesus? Show them how they can obey Jesus and live for Him.
Mark 4:21 He said to them, “A lamp isn’t brought in to be put under a bowl or under the bed, is it? Wouldn’t you put it on a lampstand? 22 Indeed, nothing is hidden, except to be disclosed; and nothing is covered up, except to come out into the open. 23 Those who have ears to hear with, let them hear!”

"Try to learn what pleases the Lord. Have no part in the
things that people in darkness do, which produce nothing good. Instead, tell everyone how wrong those things are." [Ephesians 5:10-11]
PRAYER: Father, I want to be a light for Jesus. Show me how I can help others see Him today. In His name. Amen.

The Deaf Devo - The Deaf Missions of Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States for Thursday, 24 August 2017 "Light for Jesus (1)" Bible Reading: Mark 4:21-25Mark 4:21 He said to them, “A lamp isn’t brought in to be put under a bowl or under the bed, is it? Wouldn’t you put it on a lampstand? 22 Indeed, nothing is hidden, except to be disclosed; and nothing is covered up, except to come out into the open. 23 Those who have ears to hear with, let them hear!”
24 He also said to them, “Pay attention to what you are hearing! The measure with which you measure out will be used to measure to you — and more besides! 25 For anyone who has something will be given more; but from anyone who has nothing, even what he does have will be taken away.”

When there is a blackout in my area, I light candles. Why do I do that? So I can have light, and I won't stumble around in the darkness.
In verse 21b of our Bible Reading today, Jesus said, "You don't take a lamp and hide it under a bowl or a bed, do you? Of course not. You put it on a lampstand." As Christians, we are like lights. We can show Jesus to other people through our actions and our communication. But if we do not share about Jesus with others, we are not letting our lights shine. Then the people we meet will continue to stumble around in the dark world of sin.
You will have opportunities today to share your light with people you meet. What will you do? Will you ignore them? Or will you let your light shine brightly and help them know about Jesus?

"People don't put a lamp under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand. Then the light shines for everyone in the house. In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven." [Matthew 5:15-16]
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, I know that sometimes I am not a light for Jesus. Help me to be bold and share about Him today. In Jesus' name. Amen.
