April = Education
Education is Key to Involvement.
Nazarene Missions International is committed to involving children in the mission of the church.
Did you Know?
- The basic traits of a child's character are formed before age 6.
- Major interests in life are taking permanent shape by age 12.
- According to the George Barna Research Group, children between the ages of 5 and 13 have a 32 percent probability of accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior. That likelihooddrops to 4 percent for teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18.
- Children are most likely to hear God's call to full-time Christian ministry (missionaries, ministers, etc.) between the ages of 4-14. (Christianity Today) Missiologists refer to this period of time as the "4/14 Window".
Why involve kids in missions?
- Children are sensitive to God. They can begin learning about God's heart for missions at an early age.
- Children easily understand the
concept of compassion.
- We must sow the seeds of mission interest at an early age if we expect to reap missionary recruits and strong mission supporters in the years ahead.

An Easter Greetings from Dr. Louw, Asia-Pacific Regional Director!
He is Risen!
Dr. Mark Louw, Asia-Pacific Regional Director
Resurrection greetings from the Asia-Pacific Region.
During the late 1960s the world as now, was in turmoil and transition with increased drug abuse, racial tension and the infiltration of the "God is dead" idea in the American educational system.
During a period of heightened personal stress, Gloria Gaither in a moment of surrender to Jesus was filled with a sweet, calming peace. Her panic gave way to a calmness and an assurance that only the Lord can give. In that moment, she was assured that the future would be fine left in God's hands.
The power of Christ's resurrection was reaffirmed in her life and in her thoughts. To Gloria, it was "life conquering death" as joy once again permeated the fearful circumstances of her life.
All of this gave rise to one of the most famous Southern Gospel songs of our time, "Because He Lives."
God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!
Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
As we remember Christ's resurrection, we gain assurance and strength to overcome the frightening obstacles of life. Today, may we be reminded that Jesus lives, every single day, in our hearts, thereby empowering us to overcome all that the world throws our way.
May you know today, the power of the Resurrection.

UPDATE FROM MICRONESIA – PLEASE PRAY FOR THE CHUUK CHURCH FOLLOWING TYPHOON!
Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia: Please pray for Pastor Richard Sulatra, our Nazarene church families, and all of those in Chuuk as they recover from the devastating effects of Super Typhoon Maysak, that hammered those islands last Sunday afternoon.
Pastor Sulatra reports that our church there sustained some damage to the roof, windows were broken out and everything inside got wet. He is not able to check on all of his church members as the power is still out on the islands.
Please pray for God to be with the people of Chuuk as they try to clean up and rebuild. Five people lost their lives on the island due to this typhoon. . Romans 8:28 comes into play here. Thank you for your prayers.[Pastor Larry Cornett – Guam First Church of the Nazarene.]

Good Samaritan Inn: A Safe Haven of love and outreach in Fiji.
Fiji, Melanesia South Pacific
For the longest time, district team leaders have been praying and thinking of how they could contribute to Fiji from a compassionate ministry perspective. In the beginning of 2014, an idea dawned on them.
What was this idea? How did they come up with it? Who were the key players in making this project a success? God is indeed making things possible to those who believe and offer everything to Him!

GOOD SAMARITAN INN: A SAFE HAVEN OF LOVE AND OUTREACH IN FIJI.
Fiji, Melanesia South Pacific: For the longest time, district team leaders have been praying and thinking of how they could contribute to Fiji from a compassionate ministry perspective. In the beginning of 2014, an idea dawned on them.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger when you invited me in …[Matthew 25:35]
This scripture from the book of Matthew was what the district team leaders had in mind when they thought of the project. It just so happened that at this time, the government of Fiji was also exploring ways to manage poverty, particularly with regard to assisting those who were homeless on their streets.
Considering the needs of the government and passion and vision of the district, Nazarene team leaders proposed a partnership. The partnership would provide a safe home for the less fortunate and help them restore and rehabilitate their lives to a level where they could return to the community. The government immediately embraced the idea and agreed to work hand in hand with the church. After months of dialogue and preparation, the Good Samaritan Inn (GSI) officially came into being on February 6, 2015.
GSI is located on a three-acre piece of land, in Coloisuva, Suva, Fiji, where there is a newly renovated Nazarene church. Fiji Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) manages and operates the facility. The government, through the Ministry of Women and Children and Poverty Alleviation, provides assistance through various ministries such as health, social welfare and workshops addressing issues of business and livelihood training.
GSI is built as a temporary home for the less fortunate. It has 24 beds to accommodate the homeless, providing a shelter where they can stay until they are able to get back on their feet. They have been through tough times; many of them have been rejected from their own homes, abused, accused and humiliated.
Given these backgrounds, the church realizes that it is not just their job to provide shelter, but to also be a source of genuine love, patience, forgiveness, understanding and acceptance. GSI teaches the people to pray, and to see God as the provider and a source of healing, restoration and empowerment in their lives.
Apart from providing the land and managing the home, the church donates equipment, clothes and volunteer labor for different work activities.
“This centre, ‘The Good Samaritan Inn’ is the first of its kind in Fiji,” said Rosie Akbar of Ministry of Women and Children and Poverty Alleviation, during the official opening. The church is very grateful and truly appreciates the commitment and faith of the government in this endeavor.
Let us continue to support and pray that this new Compassionate Ministry will impact the people of Fiji, and serve to introduce people to the true source of life transformation and healing, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Indeed, when we give all the glory to God, all things are possible.

Your giving brings water to those in need- Thank You!
Melanesia South Pacific Field
Diane Chapman, one of our missionaries in Papua New Guinea, happily reported that new water tanks have been installed in one of their areas. Each tank can hold around 9,500 litres. These tanks become catch basins of rainwater, filtering and turning them into clean water.
Water is a priceless commodity, and it becomes even more special to the people in the community because it is scarce.
Thank you for making clean water possible, so that the Living Water
can be shared.

YOUR GIVING BRINGS WATER TO THOSE IN NEED- THANK YOU!
Melanesia Nazarene Bible College, Papua New Guinea: Diane Chapman, one of our missionaries in Papua New Guinea, happily reported that new water tanks have been installed at their residence. Each tank can hold around 9,500 litres. These tanks become catch basins of rainwater, supplying the needs for the missionaries and national staff.
“Water is a priceless commodity and it becomes even more special to the people in the community because it is scarce,” shared Chapman. Diane went on to share that in one instance there was no rain for ten days and supplies were getting very low, then when it finally poured, the tanks were filled just below the third line in just a very short time.
“When we have more than enough, there isn’t much thought about where it is coming from. But, when there isn’t much water left, you make every effort to conserve and not waste.”[Diane Chapman]
Diane is very thankful for the generosity of everyone who continues to give to the World Evangelism Fund. These tanks, providing such a basic need as life-giving water throughout the community, are just one example of impacts being made that are often overlooked.
“…Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”[John 4:13-14]
This story of thanksgiving is a living testimony of God’s goodness through His people. Thank you for your continued partnership with the World Evangelism Fund. In this one example, you are helping to provide living water, so that our missionaries can continue to introduce those in the community to the source of living water![Submitted: Diane Chapman]

WORK AND WITNESS TEAM MAKING A DIFFERENCE AT PNC
La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines: A Work and Witness team from Canada is currently at Philippine Nazarene College (PNC) to help in the construction of the school’s Technology and Vocational Skills Training Center.
This is truly a demonstration of collaborative partnership between many Nazarenes from two different nations.
Container being loaded at Nazarene Compassionate Resource Warehouse – Canada.
Nazarene Compassionate Resource Warehouse, in partnership with Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) Canada, provided all of the supplies and equipment for the buildings, including packing and shipping of the container.
Nazarene laymen here in the Philippines worked hard at preparing the site, Nazarene laymen and workers at PNC, worked feverishly at developing the building designs, digging the footings, and by hand, pouring the many yards of concrete for the pads. Once the container shipment had arrived and the concrete was ready, Victoria Church of the Nazarene (Canada) organized a Work and Witness Team to come to the Philippines to put up the structure.
Victoria Work and Witness team has just about finished the main structure.
The Technology and Vocational Skills Training Center will facilitate technological and vocational training for students in grades 11 and 12, as well as in the future, ministerial students. This training will empower them to become more effective, self-reliant and employable in the communities where they will end up planting churches and sharing the Gospel. Skills training will include carpentry, plumbing, welding, electrical and housekeeping.

Rev. Stephen Gualberto, president of the Philippine Nazarene College and Field Strategy Coordinator of the Philippine Micronesia Field, shared updates on the project. According to Gualberto, the team was able to gather all of the materials, supplies and tools in preparation for the construction. They have also now completed erecting the main building. Finishing work is to follow.
A team member hard at work.
Rev. Gualberto praises the Lord at how this project is coming together. He is also requesting prayer, that good weather will continue during the course of the project.
Let’s also pray for the team’s strength and safety. May each member be filled with the Holy Spirit as they carry on their mission. Pray also that this facility will be used to train up young leaders who will be able to effectively communicate the Gospel message to the world in which they live and work.
Work and Witness includes any group that leaves its home district to assist in meeting the needs of the International Church of the Nazarene. These teams provide resources of people and finances to build God’s kingdom through personal involvement in evangelism, compassionate ministries, construction and other ministries of the Church.
