~ Remember, our church service begins at 9am this Sunday due to Unplugged! ~
Adams Avenue Unplugged is this Saturday and Sunday! This 2-day music festival brings people from all over San Diego to our neighborhood, and to our church! Our church has the distinction of being the main stage for many of the performances, which is a great opportunity to introduce ourselves to people. We can still use volunteers in to help out, especially between 4-7 in the evenings on Saturday & Sunday. Let Nancy know if you want to help out. Note that this Sunday we will have our service earlier at 9am! This is due to the Adams Ave. Unplugged Series, which is using our sanctuary for many of the musicians, and to the road closures during the event.

There is a phrase here at church that perhaps you have heard mentioned before…a phrase that sometimes stands out because it combines two words that are not usually connected. That phrase is “Sacred Ordinary.” It’s a phrase that seems to walk the fine line between a contradiction and a reconciliation as it puts these two words together, sacred and ordinary. One word, sacred, conjures up images of holy, divine and lofty, while the other word, ordinary, seems to signal the opposite and images of everyday, common and insignificant.
And so what does it mean to hold these two together? What does the divine have to do with the common? Well, this Sunday at our special 9am service, Pastor Brent will be giving a “Ted Talk” on the Sacred Ordinary. Drawing from the Scriptures, church history and current culture, he will talk about the significance of the idea and how it connects with discipleship and church life. If you have been in trigged by the term when you’ve heard it before or if you enjoy learning in “Ted Talk” style settings…you will enjoy this! Come get your coffee, hear the talk and then stay to help for Unplugged! See you Sunday!
**Important: Don’t forget our worship service is at 9am this Sunday because of Adams Ave Unplugged!

The memorial service for Mary Annuziata will be held on Friday, April 24th at 9:45am at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Please continue to pray for Rod and Mary’s family.

Tonight's Topic:
Is there evidence in the Bible to support the belief that everyone might be saved?
Tonight we will be talking about the belief called Universalism. Universalism is the belief that everyone will be saved, and perhaps not even everyone, but everything. But what does it mean to say or believe that? Is there proof of this? Is it in the Bible anywhere? What does that say about personal responsibility? At our next Faith on Tap, we will be discussing the question: “Can Everything Be Saved?”
“Faith on Tap” is our casual beer and faith discussion group. We meet at the home of local church members, Mike and Nancy Palmer, and if you’d like directions or want more info, please email Nancy directly at nancy@nhunited.org. Everyone is welcome at this event!

Parents of children of all ages (or anyone interested in youth ministries) are invited to attend a meeting to discuss plans for starting up a youth program at NHUMC!!! We will be talking about your needs and wants in a program for youth, how we can better serveYOU, the parents, as well as assessing our current programs for children. YOUR input is important and we value your ideas. The meeting will be in the Social Hall after the worship service on Sunday, May 3rd. It will run from around 11:45am-1:00pm.
