Resurrection West,
The commitments we make in our life defines our life! This Sunday will be a defining day for the future of Resurrection West. We will bring forth our sacrificial commitments before God to bless, multiply, and use for the Kingdom building He desires! This will truly be an historic day in the life of our church, not unlike the historic night this past February 10th when 143 members voted unanimously to move forward in our phase II building development. Not unlike last August 17th when we celebrated eight years as a congregation and over 1000 were in worship attendance, with another 250 children and teens downstairs. Not unlike December 4th of 2011 when the phase I building opened and a standing room only crowd gave glory to Christ in worship. Not unlike August 20th of 2006 when the first worship gathering of Resurrection West occurred at Prairie Trail middle school. This Sunday, April 26th, 2015 will be a new marker of our history and growth as a congregation that exists to build Christian community where non religious and nominally religious people are becoming deeply committed Christians. Your commitments for the next three-years in this capital campaignwill help to change lives, transform communities, and renew the church!
You should have received in the mail this week a packet including your commitment cards to bring forth this Sunday in all worship services. We will have many cards available in the case that you need a new card. Our children’s choir ensemble will bless us in song at each service just before we bring our commitments forward giving them over to God. You will see the crosses our children gave last Sunday as they came forward, reminding us of Jesus’ deep and sacrificial love. We will have a gift of a red maple tree sapling for every card submitted on Sunday. We invite you to plant your tree and nurture it to maturity as a sign of our faith growth as we continue our journey of becoming deeply committed Christians.
The prayer tent is open for one more day - today until 8:00pm. That is why I'm writing you earlier than usual. Groups and individuals have been gathering on the grounds together throughout this week in prayer for the future of our church. Praying for those who have yet to come and those who will meet Christ here at Resurrection West. You can also view the last two Sunday’s sermons on our home page at rezwest.org
On Saturday, we remember who God calls us to be with two great events. We begin the day with a MEGA MISSION at 9am. Join us in the Sanctuary for some donuts and coffee before we are sent throughout our community (with our MEGA MISSION t-shirts on – pick up yours on Saturday if you haven’t yet). We will be sent out to serve over 30 different households all around the western Johnson county area who are in great need of yard work, minor repairs, and more. We hope this will greatly bless these lives and help to transform our community!
Then join us for a lunch at the new Olathe Community Center (1205 E. Kansas City Road) followed by a Vacation Bible Camp style program for our children with famous characters from past VBC’s making appearances in “Resurrection West Celebrity Jeopardy”! We will also have crafts and activities before we conclude our time together and invite you to enjoy the aquatic center ($6 per person) if you choose.
You can read the latest staff blog by Rick Webb, our Director of Student Ministries, plus design plan details of Phase II, twenty-one daily devotions written by our members and more at branchingout.rezwest.org. Rick offers incredible insight in this week's blog as he transitioned to serve here at Resurrection West. Welcome again Rick! We are so glad God has called you here!

Finally, many of you witnessed my emotion last Sunday when I shared my daughter’s pre-school passion play video in my sermon reminding us all of Christ’s sacrifice, but there was another emotional moment I witnessed and I am sure some of you did as well. It happened when our children brought forth their crosses. Here is a pic of just a few of them. You can see more on our facebook page by clicking here.
I can't wait for this weekend! May God bless our spiritual offerings and be glorified this Sunday and the days, weeks, years, and eternity to come!
