REDISCOVERED VOICES: THE MUSIC & STORIES OF JEWISH COMPOSERS
OCTOBER 7, 7:00-8:00PM
Join Arizona Opera and the ASU Center for Jewish Studies for a fascinating concert exploring the music and stories of Jewish composers during World War II. This concert will feature music by Korngold, Weil, Ullmann, Krása, and Kálmán, and star singers from the Arizona Opera. This concert is a part of Arizona Opera's Rediscovered Voices Festival. Rediscovered Voices is a cultural festival surrounding the US opera debut of Kálmán's "Arizona Lady" at Arizona Opera. Kálmán was a Jewish Hungarian composer who escaped Europe, moved to the Southwest, and when he returned to Europe after the war, wrote this piece as a love letter for our state. Celebrate the West, celebrate our heritage, our stories, and our music with this great concert! RSVP by calling the synagogue office.
