Devastating fire in Malawi from Joey Pierce, Partners In Health for Thursday, 1 October 2015

Devastating fire in Malawi from Joey Pierce, Partners In Health for Thursday, 1 October 2015

Yesterday I received an urgent email from Dr. Emily Wroe, director of clinical services for PIH in Malawi:
"Today I went to visit Nsambe, Malawi—the poorest village in the poorest district in the poorest country we serve—where a bush fire burned through town yesterday over the course of 12 hours. I probably don't need to elaborate on the utter devastation up there.
We found over 300 homeless people; maize was destroyed; livestock killed; ash still swirling around in the air. They are going to need our help."
We need to raise $100,000 to provide them with clean water, food, shelter, and a mobile clinic starting next week.
Will you help us ease this tragedy with a gift of $15 today?
I know you received an email from our CEO just yesterday. You wouldn't ordinarily hear from us two days in a row.
But the devastation from this fire, which threatens the health and safety of the people we serve, compels us to make an exception.
Please consider an urgent gift today: http://act.pih.org/nsambe-fire
Gratefully,
Joey
