There is one more workshop that does not exist that should be based on the Theological Reasons for fully Including People with Disabilities and their Families in Church Growth and Church Planting. Based on Luke 14:7-14 and related Scripture Texts in the Bible
Title: Inclusion of People with Disabilities in Church Growth/Planting
Scripture: Luke 14:When Yeshua noticed how the guests were choosing for themselves the best seats at the table, he told them this parable: “When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, don’t sit down in the best seat; because if there is someone more important than you who has been invited, the person who invited both of you might come and say to you, ‘Give this man your place.’ Then you will be humiliated as you go to take the least important place. 10 Instead, when you are invited, go and sit in the least important place; so that when the one who invited you comes, he will say to you, ‘Go on up to a better seat.’ Then you will be honored in front of everyone sitting with you. 11 Because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.”12 Yeshua also said to the one who had invited him, “When you give a lunch or a dinner, don’t invite your friends, brothers, relatives or rich neighbors; for they may well invite you in return, and that will be your repayment. 13 Instead, when you have a party, invite poor people, disfigured people, the crippled, the blind! 14 How blessed you will be that they have nothing with which to repay you! For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
Introduction: How often have we sought to grow and plant churches to reach people like us who are fully abled similar to us? As we reflect on Luke 14:12-14, we see Jesus call for the people to reach for a dinner party, but how more is this needed in church growth and planting? Let us be real with the number of people in the world with some kind of disability numbering close to 9 million leaving us with the question: What a large people group that is multicultural In nature? We come to realize our need to be more proactive in reaching and ministering with people with disabilities who have gifts and graces to increase our church discipleship ministry even as clergy as well as laity.
There is a way to get even the small church involved by working with resources in the community or even to think bigger by planning place where parents who have their church home with them can go to place their children in a safe environment for a day or evening for some respite and a time with the spouse on a second date and/or just relaxing or developing a L'Arche Type home that may even look like Methodist Retirement Village where may apartments for families who still desire to live with their child with different ability or the ones who are able to live in apartments by themselves or with a roommate that has paid staff to live with them to build community inside and outside the apartments with assistant living apartments where they need live in paid staff assist them along with a nursing type home where more severe may have 24-hour supervision from staff who may or may not live in an apartment connected to the nursing home. This would actually provide community inside and outside the housing while providing employment and internships for people who desire to learn to build community with people who are differently abled beyond the church building in community while not only having a community room to fellowship with each other and the greater community, but to have work available such as stores and restuarants and factory type work such as sewing, etc.
Come on church: WAKE UP!

When You Gonna Wake Up by Bob Dylan
God don't make promises that He don't keep
You got some big dreams baby, but in order to dream you gotta still be asleep.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up strengthen the things that remain ?
Counterfeited philosophies have polluted all of your thoughts
Karl Marx has got ya by the throat, Henry Kissinger's got you tied up in knots.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up strengthen the things that remain ?
You got innocent men in jail, your insane asylums are filled
You got unrighteous doctors dealing drugs that'll never cure your ills.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up strengthen the things that remain ?
You got men who can't hold their peace and woman who can't control their tongues
The rich seduce the poor and the old are seduced by the young.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up strengthen the things that remain ?
Adulterers in churches and pornography in the schools
You got gangsters in power and lawbreakers making rules.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up strengthen the things that remain ?
Spiritual advisors and gurus to guide your every move
Instant inner peace and every step you take has got to be approved.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up strengthen the things that remain ?
Do you ever wonder just what God requires ?
You think He's just an errand boy to satisfy your wandering desires.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up and strengthen the things that remain ?
You can't take it with you and you know that it's too worthless to be sold
They tell you, 'Time is money' as if your life was worth its weight in gold.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up and strengthen the things that remain ?
There's a man up on a cross and He's been crucified for you
Believe in His power that's about all you got to do.
When you gonna wake up, when you gonna wake up
When you gonna wake up and strengthen the things that remain ?
