Pastor Penny Ellwood's eNote for Friday, 23 June 2017 - The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Blue Springs in Blue Springs, Missouri, United States

Friday,June 23, 2017

Hello Resurrection Blue Springs,

Bill and I made it back to Missouri with our kids by the grace of God!  We have stories that will preach, a blown out tire on the trailer in the desert, a near miss with an elk and running out of gas to name a few.  On top of all that, I managed to drag home a nasty virus too.  I was ever so glad to see home.  I understand that things were a bit exciting back here last Sunday too what with partial power to our building after the storms.  I’m glad to say everything is back to normal and all systems have been checked out. I appreciate your flexibility and desire to worship despite the challenges of the day.

The cooler weather that has come in is going to be perfect for our Resurrection night at the Royals and the start of the Secret Life of Jesus mini-camp that begins this evening.  The kids will be acting as special agents to uncover the secrets Jesus’ is hiding in a couple of the parables they’ll be exploring.  They will end their evening and morning of fun with a big water party in the back yard on Saturday.   It you didn’t get your kids signed up, email Diane.Enlow@cor.org to see if there’s still room.  It’s not to early to sign up for the next camp in July either.  The details are below.

This Sunday we continue our series on the stories Jesus told that changed the world. We’ll focus on two parables pertaining to finances, generosity, and faith, which inform our understanding of how we measure success.  We'll explore "the real thief that comes in the night" by looking at the parable of the Tax Collector and the Pharisee as well as the story about the Laborers in the Vineyard. I hope you’ll join us!

Make sure to check out some of the other upcoming opportunities to learn, serve and connect below . . .
