X-CITING WORSHIP



Game of Zones. Dr. Emanuel Cleaver III begins the newest sermon series with "Comfort Zone" - 2 Kings 11:19, Sunday, June 18, @ 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Paseo Campus and 10 a.m. Renaissance Campus worship services.  We will also be honoring all Father's on with a special Fathers Day at St. James UMC.

Wednesday Night Live.  Join us Wednesday, June 217 p.m. in the Ministry Mall for our continuing exploration of the Bible from Genesis to Revelations.  Led by Dr. 3 and the Pastoral Team, we wrestle with what the Bible says, the cultural context, people, places of the time and what it means for us today.  Please read Exodus 28-34, for next week's study.

FAITH DEVELOPMENT
Sunday School.  There are three adult Sunday school classes offered this summer at St. James UMC. The classes are the Women's Sunday school class, The Mixed Adult's Sunday school class, and the Men's Sunday school class.

New Member Orientation.  Will be held on July 8, 9:30 a.m. here at the Paseo Campus.
Senior Fitness & Bible Study.  Join us at the Paseo Campus every Wednesday from 11-11:30 a.m. for light to moderate exercise done from the comfort of a chair!  A trained fitness expert will guide you through exercises that help strengthen you, and the fellowship will help motivate you.  Then, stay for Bible Study from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and get strengthened in the spirit!  Feel free to bring a dish and join us in the potluck lunch following our study time.

Bible Study at Renaissance.  Join us Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. for Bible study at the Renaissance Campus.  There is food, fellowship and the Word.  Come out and grow with your church family!

Prayer Time.  Continue with us in prayer every Tuesday and Thursday from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. on the prayer line 530-881-1212, code 293680996.

Prayer Class.  Learn to build your prayer skills and deepen your faith development with Helen Walker every 4th Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in the Vaughan Chapel.  The next class is Sunday, June 25th.

CONGREGATIONAL CARE
Christian Sympathy is extended at the passing of:
·         Alexis Pearl Addison, daughter of Pamela Hider-Johnson;mother of DeRon Rozell; sister of Stacy Jackson (John); niece of Sharron Anderson; aunt of Audrey Jackson, Johnathan and Joseph Jackson.

GriefShare.  No matter what the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process.  St. James is offering support during this process with our GriefShare recovery seminar and support group.  We will work together on your journey from mourning to joy.  The series continues every Thursday night at 6:00 p.m., please contact Rosalyn Wilson at wgmn1969@att.net if you need additional information.

Compassionate Care.  When you experience illness, the death of a loved one or if you would like prayer, we want to know so that we may provide compassion, encouragement and comfort during life's challenges.  Please let us know by calling the church office at 816-444-5588 or, after hours, the Care on Call phone at 816-286-6048.

WORSHIP MINISTRIES
Little Vessel Ushers and Youth Ushers.  Children ages 5-11 and youth ages 12-18 serve as ushers every 3rd Sunday during 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship.  No experience needed - on the job training is provided.  The uniform is a white button down shirt and black slacks or skirt.  Contact Brenda Sylvan (children) at 816-942-4258 or Connie Frazier (youth) at 816-363-3468.

CONNECTING MINISTRIES

Connectors Needed. As most are aware the Welcome Center at the Paseo entrance has been operating since February, you can complete a number of vital tasks at the center.  You can pay your tithes, locate a number of activities to serve.  Next door in the hallway are refreshments provided by our Hebrews Ministry.  We are missing YOU, please consider volunteering one Sunday a month at 8:00 or 11:00 a.m. worship to assist at the center.  A signup sheet is available or you can contact the church office. Thank you for your ministry agreeing to serve:

Welcome Center.  The HeBrews, Hospitality and Membership Teams have partnered to create an inviting welcome area for members and guests in the Narthex (outside the sanctuary).  Stop by to:
  • Enjoy fresh coffee, juice or tea at the HeBrews station
  • Pick-up ministry or event information, order CDs/DVDs
  • Update contact information, register or volunteer 
  • Take advantage of convenient, electronic giving 
Summer Bowling League.  Join us Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at Premier Bowling Center (11400 E 350 Hwy Raytown MO 64139).  The league is open to all skill levels.  If you or someone you know likes to bowl, this leage is perfect for honing skills.  If you don't have gear, bowling balls and shoes are available.  All proceeds are donated to the church; for more information, contact samuel.colemanjr@yahoo.com.

NEXT GENERATION MINISTRIES


Senior Recognition. God has blessed this community with so many wonderful young people who are graduating. We would love to recognize all of our graduating seniors during worship June 25, 2017. Graduating seniors Sign up - Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the welcome center immediately following 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services to be part of the St. James senior recognition activities. 

Next Gen Camp/VBS.  St. James UMC Paseo campus will host Next Gen Camp/VBS, Wednesday, June 21 - Friday, June 23We need a few more volunteers to make this an awesome experience. We will serve dinner starting at 5 p.m. every night.  Come join us!  If you have some free time and are willing to share your talents, please contact Yvette Richards at 816-802-8234 or stop by the Welcome Center on Sunday after 8 and 11 a.m. services for volunteer opportunities.

Next Generation Weekend.  Come celebrate the work God is doing in the lives our young people. Be Part of Next Generation Weekend, June 24-25, 2017.  Saturday, June 24, we will have field day at the St. James Renaissance Campus 1-3 p.m.lunch will be served. We will play putt-putt golf, dodgeball, volleyball, tug-of-war and lots of other exciting games and activities.  All are welcome. Spark Mini-Mobile is a weekend camp filled with a ton of fun activities, Bible study, and worship/dance party time. Cleaver Senior Living Community.  The 40 Acres Team continues to provide monthly project updates on the 1st Tuesday of each month, due to Independence Day holiday, the next meeting will be held Tuesday, July 11, at 6 p.m.  Contact Sam Coleman, Sr. at samcoleman@sbcglobal.net for more information.
