Weekly eNote from Pastor Jason Gant for Friday, 25 August 2017 from The United Methodist Church of Olathe, Kansas, United States

Resurrection West,
Good morning and what an amazing weekend of discipleship and worship we are heading into! As you read this I’m in route to our men’s retreat at Rockbridge, MO Trout Farm where we’ve got a full group of guys heading on retreat to fish, connect, and worship together. We welcome Dr. Bruce Emmert, our District Superintendent (pastor over the pastors of the Kansas City District), to speak to our group. Bruce just happens to be an avid fly-fisherman! Later tonight over 220 women will gather for our first W.O.W. (Women of West) Conference with even more inspiring speakers. Sunday we will gather at 8am, 9:30am, 11am, & 5pm as Pastor Adam continues our new series on 'Simon Peter: a flawed yet faithful follower of Christ'.
I’m so proud to serve this faith community where so many have made it a priority to grow in discipleship and service. We just need one more coach for Upward football and all of our coaching spots are filled for football, soccer, and cheer. Rezlife student ministries launched youth group gatherings this past Wednesday with parent informational meetings and a fun game time for students. Many are signing up now to participate in Alpha, Disciple 1 Bible Study, and Financial Peace University. Backpacks for hunger kicks up soon where we will pack dozens of backpacks with food for kids every Thursday to have over the weekend. We are in preparation now for our annual Leadership Institute where we will welcome hundreds of pastors and church leaders to grow together in reaching and shaping our communities for Christ at the end of September and our Fall Festival leadership team is deep into planning for an amazing Fall Festival - mark your calendars now for Saturday, Oct.7th. Fall is always such an exciting time here at RezWest so get on board!
Many of you have been asking how to join the church and we have just that gathering coming up in a few weeks. We call it ‘Coffee with the Pastors’ and it's coming up September 10th. You will hear testimony from Pastor Chris and myself, plus the history of Resurrection. Pastor Adam will speak via video about the United Methodist tradition and we will lay out expectations of membership. You do not have to join to participate, but at the conclusion if you are ready to make us your church home, you’ll stay for an additional ten minutes to join. Childcare is available. Register at cor.org/west/signup or email Debbie.Dietz@cor.org for more information. All are welcome and we look forward to welcoming many of you to our church family!
