"Christian Friends" for Tuesday, 30 May 2017 - Deaf Devo - The Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States -
Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:33-34
1 Corinthians 15:33 Don’t be fooled. “Bad company ruins good character.” 34 Come to your senses! Live righteously and stop sinning! There are some people who lack knowledge of God — I say this to your shame.

If we look at nature, we will see that birds that are the same stay together. We don't see a hummingbird soaring high with an eagle or sparrows making their nests in the swamps with wood ducks.
In the same way, Christians who want to stay close to God should find Christian friends who will encourage and support them. In our Bible Reading, Paul was talking to Christians in the city of Corinth. These Christians were experiencing problems in their church. They were allowing non-Christians to influence their thoughts and behavior.
So Paul reminded these people about their friends. "Don't be fooled: 'Bad friends will ruin good habits.' Come back to your right way of thinking and stop sinning" (verses 33-34a). That is good advice for us today, too.
Be careful about the friends you choose. Choose friends who love and honor God!
"Be friends with those who are
wise, and you will become wise. Choose fools to be your friends,
and you will have trouble." [Proverbs 13:20]
PRAYER: God, surround me with people who love and honor You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
