Weekly eNote from Pastor Scott Chrostek for Friday, June 16, 2017 - The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown in Kansas City, Missouri, United States

Hi RezDowntowners,

I hope this message finds you doing well.  It has been another amazing week in ministry.  I had the privilege to share the stories of transformation coming out of RezDowntown with over 1400 church pastors and leaders at the Tennessee Annual Conference this week.  It is awesome to visit with other annual conferences as a way of continuing our vision of renewing churches across the country.  Thank you for your prayers as I have travelled to do this over the past couple of weeks.  This weekend we return our focus to the
Stories that Changed the World by taking a look at the 'Lost Parables.' These stories serve as a great reminder about how Jesus used simple ideas to turn our world upside down.  Given that it is Father's Day weekend, I thought it would be appropriate to focus on these three stories about lost things, ranging from sheep, to coins, to kids, and apply them to our picture of who God is and who God is calling us to be!  Please join us this weekend and invite friends to join you in the process!
This weekend we also celebrate
FaithWork Saturday with our partner school Wendell Phillips at Attucks Elementary!  Join us for Bless the School, our weeklong event focusing our efforts on renovating and refurbishing the entire school!  We still need lots of help this weekend and through June 23.  However, for this Saturday, rather than showing up at the church at 9 am (per the normal Faithwork Saturday routine) please plan to show up at Phillips@Attucks Elementary School by 9 am. If that time doesn't work, register for a shift that works with your schedule at cor.org/downtown/blesstheschool. Email rezdtserve@cor.org with questions!
In the meantime, you'll find a variety of ways below to get connected over the next several weeks.  Be sure to take a look...

National Storytellers Workshop: Learn to Tell Your Organization’s Story – RezDowntown, along with the National Storytelling Network, will host a storytelling workshop June 30 at 1508 Grand from 2 - 5 pm.  Join us for tips on technique, delivery and how to better tell the story of your organization (or an agency you volunteer with) for maximum impact. This workshop is open to everyone, but may be especially helpful for nonprofits and other agency leaders. Contact Pastor Patrick.Mclaughlin@cor.org with questions!RezDads  – Join us Saturday, June 24! RezDads will meet at 1522 McGee at 9 am. Please register for childcare at cor.org/downtown/getconnected. Make sure to get the word out to other dads! Email clay.smith10@gmail.com with questions.

Matthew’s Ministry Family Day Out Downtown – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Join us Sunday, June 25, at 1 pm as individuals of all ages with special needs and their siblings enjoy a fun-filled day of crafts, activities and fellowship while parents and caregivers take an afternoon for themselves. Parents/caregivers are welcome, but not required, to stay the first half hour or the full time to help loved ones get acclimated and comfortable with the environment. This event is open to the community; you don’t have to be a member of the church to participate. Registration deadline is Wednesday, June 21. For more information, to volunteer or to register, contact Hannah.Murray@cor.org.Travel to the Holy Land with Pastor Scott.  On November 8-17 Pastor Scott will lead a spiritual journey of a lifetime to the Holy Land.  On this pilgrimage you’ll have a chance to retrace the life and walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. You’ll have a chance to visit the cities and sites we read about in the Bible. It is something we recommend everyone experience if at all possible.  For more information, visit Connection Point this weekend to pick up an informational brochure before or after worship. To register or for more info, visit cor.org/downtown/events.
Have a great
Friday and I'll look forward to seeing you this weekend for Father's Day Worship full of lost things and sweet treats (for every guy in attendance)!
Many blessings and God's Peace,
Scott
