Greetings, RezDowntowners! (And Happy New Year!)
I hope this message finds you warm and well this first Friday of 2018. I am grateful for another year and for what God has in store for us this year. I am looking forward to this weekend in worship as we kick off a new sermon series focusing on Christianity and World Religions. My guess is that you're experience is like mine in that you live next door to, go to school with, work alongside or you might even have family members who are of other religions. Yet, most of us have no solid sense for what our neighbors actually believe or how they worship. This weekend we'll start our exploratory journey to understanding Christianity and four major world religions. We’ll explore where is there common ground between the faiths as well as where they differ. Ultimately, I believe that by understanding what others believe we will become better neighbors, but I think it will also help us to deepen our own faith. I hope you'll join me as we kick off this very powerful series of sermons this weekend as we focus together on the wiseman!
Also, this weekend we have a very special opportunity to participate in another milestone moment pertaining to our new building. This weekend, after each worship service, we're giving everybody an opportunity to sign and pray over a piece of sheetrock (dry-wall) that will ultimately find it's way into our sanctuary. Our building project continues to progress very quickly, and I'm anxious to offer an update on our progress this weekend, but now is the time to pray over a portion of our sanctuary walls. I hope you'll join us in continuing to prepare our future site for generations to come with prayer!
Lastly, given all that is going on in the life of our church, I wanted to be sure to draw your attention below to several upcoming events, studies and opportunities to serve. I am grateful for the privilege to serve such a vibrant and life-giving community and I hope you'll join us as we continue to seek to live in ministry and service #withKC and focus your efforts and response in a way that fulfills our #18in18 vision!
Many Blessings and Happy New Year!
