Resurrection West,
Happy 2018! The new year is here and we’re thinking about fresh starts and goals for the upcoming year. We want to encourage you to take some time to consider your spiritual growth goals for the year, especially in the areas of knowing God (becoming theologically informed), loving God (becoming spiritually transformed),and serving God (His hands, feet, voice, and heart in this world).
We begin a new worship series this Sunday as Pastor Adam leads us in an exploration of Christianity & World Religions. Worship attendance is important! What we do with our time defines who we are and who we are becoming, so my hope is you will make a commitment this year to be in worship every week (unless sick or out of town). Something powerful happens to us by the influence of the Holy Spirit when we gather to sing praise, give, and learn together; we grow in humility, clarity of God’s will upon us, and our heart softens to the cares, concerns, and compassion of Christ. We gather at 8am, 9:30am, 11am, & 5pm (with lots of room at 8am & 5pm). KiDSCOR Sunday School (6 months-5th grade) at all four services and rezlife Sunday School (6th-8th grade) at 9:30am & 11am services.
Please also consider where you might grow in a smaller group. We have many options listed below, especially our companion study with Christianity & World Religions starting next Tuesday evening, January 9th. See the details below.
And also where will you serve in 2018? My hope is that we each consider serving 18 hours in 2018! Thats the equivalent of six faith work Saturdays or MEGA MISSIONS, and speaking of MEGA MISSION serve days, we have one coming up on Monday, January 15th as we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mark it on your calendar now as we hope to double our goal over last year and pack 30,000 meals for the hungry!
Finally, I look forward to teaching at Saturday Morning Women's tomorrow. Ladies, come join us at 8:30am for breakfast and discussion on a book by Timothy Keller on Prayer - Experiencing Awe and intimacy with God! What a great way to begin this new year!
Looking forward to growing and serving with you in 2018,
Jason
