Executive Director's Quick Report / Society of St. Andrew for Thursday, 18 May 2017 - Society of St. Andrew / EndHunger.org in Big Island, Virginia, United States

Quick Report
Thursday, May 18, 2017
Through your gifts to the Society of St. Andrew, you share God's abundance with hungry neighbors:

*  You engage volunteers in meeting hunger needs right in their own communities.

*  You build capacity for soup kitchens, shelters, and food pantries by making nourishing food available to them, at no cost.

*  You put farm-fresh fruits and vegetables on the plates of people in greatest need, and

*  You keep good food out of landfills, offering farmers a way to share what they cannot sell.
Participants in the Santa Rosa Day of Service bagged 40,000 pounds of carrots to share with hungry neighbors in Milton, FL on May 6.
This good food means that low-income individuals can go to school or work well-fed; it means that chronic illness can be better managed through healthier eating; and it means that the light bill can be paid or medicine purchased, because you've helped them save a few dollars on their food bill. You make "struggling to get by" a little less difficult.

So far this year, gifts from caring people like you have shared 26.6 million servings of healthy food with hungry people in the United States, through 620 partner agencies in nearly 30 states. With the time and labor of 6,814 volunteers, this good food has supplemented the diets of more than 3.8 million people.
This week, 120,000 servings of fresh and nutritious carrots are on the tables of hungry families in North Florida, thanks to generous donors like you!
This is work that YOU make possible. Thank you!

It would be difficult to overstate the good you are doing day after day, through your ongoing support for the Society of St. Andrew's work. Leveraging partnerships with farmers and feeding agencies, mobilizing volunteers to glean in fields, and growing a broad, grassroots network of neighbors helping neighbors across the United States, you keep good food out of landfills and get it to the people who need it most, at a cost of only 3¢ per serving.

Thank you for believing in this cause; for telling your friends, neighbors, and co-workers about the Society of St. Andrew; for your prayers for this work and for the people we serve. Thank you for your time in volunteering; and thank you for your financial support that allows the ministry to keep going and growing. We couldn't do it without you!

With you in faithful service,
