Weekly eNote from Pastor Scott Chrostek for Friday, May 19, 2017 - The United Methodist Church Downtown in Kansas City, Missouri, United States

Hi RezDowntowners,
I hope you're doing well today.  It has been a great week downtown, filled with exciting construction, ministry and activity.  It's hard to believe that we're almost to summer.  As a way of marking the season, this weekend  we want to honor our graduates (both college and high school) and to do so we have a gift for every graduate in worship; I’d love for you and your family to join us.  Also, as you graduate I want you to know that we as a church want to support you in any way we can.  From time to time, we send notes and care packages to our college students; we pray for you, and we plan special events during the summer time and throughout the year with our 20/30 group.  In fact, on Sunday evening, June 4, after the 5 o'clock service our 20/30 Group will be hosting an event to kick off the summer in Kansas City!  For more information please click here.

This weekend we continue our sermon series on The Birds and the Bees!  This is the last weekend before my wife, Wendy and I conclude the sermon series with a shared message on enriching marriages. Join us this weekend, but be sure to save the date for Memorial Day Weekend's rousing conclusion to
The Birds and The Bees.  In anticipation of next week's message on marriage, I want to invite all of our RezMoms and RezDads to connect this Saturday morning.  Our Moms will be meeting up at Cafe Europa for brunch on Saturday at 9 am for their last "meeting" of the school year!  If you're interested in attending this please RSVP to Kristen Sayers at klynsayers@gmail.com.  At the same time, our RezDads will be meeting at Dietrich Park, located at 27th and Gilham at 9 am.  Dads, please feel free to bring your little guys and gals and plan to hang out for a few hours. Make sure to get the word out to other dads! Email clay.smith10@gmail.com with questions!

Finally, last Friday, Kelly and I shared a video update on the RezDowntown Facebook page detailing where we are in the construction process. It's pretty fun to see people at work every day preparing our site for the new building!  In order to stay up to date on things, be sure to visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/rezdowntown.

In the meantime, you'll find a variety of ways below to get connected over the next several weeks.  Be sure to take a look...

Speaker: Paul Maseo at Wednesday Morning Men’s Group – As Christ-followers, how should we treat a homeless person we meet on the street?  Should we engage in conversation? Give them money, food or supplies? Pray with them? If you’ve wrestled with these or similar questions, please join the RezDowntown Men on Wednesday, May 24, at 6:45 am at the Grand location for a one-hour presentation by Paul Maseo from the Kansas City Rescue Mission.

Global Fun Day at Phillips@Attucks Elementary  - If you work on Thursdays, take a personal day on May 25 to do something rewarding and FUN! We will visit Phillips@Attucks Elementary to help lead their Global Fun Day (outdoors, weather-permitting) from 8:30 am – 4 pm. Kindergartners – 2nd-graders will participate in the morning, 3rd – 6th-graders will participate in the afternoon. Sign up to help from 8:30 am – noon, 12:30-4 pm, or both. To sign up or for more details, visit cor.org/downtown/serve.
Travel to the Holy Land with Pastor Scott.  On November 8-17 Pastor Scott will lead a spiritual journey of a lifetime to the Holy Land.  On this pilgrimage you’ll have a chance to retrace the life and walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. You’ll have a chance to visit the cities and sites we read about in the Bible. It is something we recommend everybody experiences if at all possible.  For more information visit Connection Point this weekend to pick up an informational brochure before or after worship. To register or for more info, visit cor.org/downtown/events.

Have a great
Friday and I can't wait to see you this weekend in worship!

Many blessings and God's Peace,
Scott
