"The Advent: Day 14"
"Come now, let us settle the matter," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." (Isaiah 1:18 NIV)
---
God wants to give you a great gift this Christmas. He wants to give you the great gift of forgiveness all wrapped up in the work of Jesus. Our sins cause us to fall short of God's holy standard. Baptism, confirmation, generous giving, regular church attendance, and good works are not enough to make us right with God. We are in a helpless and hopeless situation, so God sent Jesus to do for us what we could not do for ourselves.
Jesus purchased God's great gift of forgiveness by his death on the cross. He alone paid the penalty for our sins. Accepting the free gift is simply this: Believing that Jesus died for me. Believing that the death of Jesus paid the penalty for my sins. Trusting in Jesus alone to place me into an eternal relationship with the living God. My sins are as red as crimson. Through the work of Jesus, they are made as white as fresh snow and pure white wool.
God wants to settle the matter with you. God loves you and desires to know you intimately and deeply. Today I urge you to trust in Jesus as the only way the stain of your sin can be washed away and forgiven. The following prayer is a guide to help you settle the matter with God.
Heavenly Father, I know that I am a sinner and cannot earn my way to you. My best efforts on my best day fall short. Right now I trust in Jesus alone as the only way I can have a relationship with you. I trust in Jesus as the one who paid the penalty of sin by his death on the cross, one-time-for-all-time. Thank you for hearing my prayer, forgiving my sins, and placing me in your family. In Jesus' name. Amen.

"Obedience" goTandem
"Obedience"
God blesses the one who reads the words of this prophecy to the church, and he blesses all who listen to its message and obey what it says, for the time is near. (Revelation 1:3)
How are obedience and blessing connected in this verse?
Is it hard to obey someone you don't love?
