July Focus - Praying for International Ministry, Bible Schools and Seminaries
~ Nazarene educational institutions around the world are training preachers, teachers, evangelists, nurses, and vocational and lay leaders. This education is essential to the success of evangelistic efforts. Please remember the students, faculty, and their staff in your prayers.
For a list click here
While there are a couple of projects associated with the emphasis (NMI International Student Scholarship Fund and "Books for Pastors-Tools for Ministry"), the main activity for this emphasis is prayer.

"Developing Leaders" by Stan Toler
THE ONE QUESTION THAT WILL ENSURE YOUR SUCCESS AS A LEADER
Why You Should See Every Interaction as an Opportunity to Give
Transformational leaders invest in others. Rather than looking out only for their own interests, great leaders learn to ask win-win questions like these: What can I do for you? What can we do together? How could this benefit both of us?
When you begin to look beyond your own objectives and ask, "What can I do to help others succeed?" you will succeed at an even higher level. A leader who is always looking for credit will soon be a solo performer.
The secret question that will transform your leadership from "me" to "we"? It's simple: "What's in it for them?"
Here are four things you can do right now to sharpen your transformational leadership skill.
- Focus on Others: Whatever you do as a leader, do it with the welfare of your people in mind. Whether you are producing a product, delivering a service, or asking others to change in some way, do what you do to improve the lives of those you lead.
- Be Generous: Transformational leaders use their resources with community in mind. They have an open heart to the needs of others, and are wisely generous in their support for relief efforts and benevolent causes.
- Build Relationships: Transformational leaders value family, friends, teammates and colleagues. They interact with their peers, network with colleagues, and listen to and learn from others. They realize that relational capital is their most important resource.
- Tell the Truth: Transformational leaders are what they appear to be, and their word is as good as gold. Don't exaggerate, shade the truth, or make excuses. When you give your word, stand behind it regardless of the personal cost. They live above the line morally, ethically, and financially.
How have you developed trust with those you lead? Share your answer on Twitter or Facebook![Stan Toler]

Asia-Pacific Region in Direct Path of Multiple Storms!
Asia-Pacific Region

All eyes are on the Pacific as four storms are developing and moving westward. With the Micronesian Islands still recovering from April's Super Typhoon Maysak, the threat of more damage from tropical storms and typhoons is definitely a major concern.
Tropical storm Chan-hom is currently located approximately 300 miles (482 km) southeast of Guam, and is forecast to once again regain typhoon strength over the weekend. The National Weather Service has issued a typhoon watch for Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan, meaning typhoon conditions - winds of 74 mph or more - are possible within 48 hours.
Tropical Storm Linfa is due to pass over the northern Philippines over the weekend, bringing heavy rain.
Tropical Cyclone Raquel in the South Pacific.
Please keep the islanders of the western and south Pacific in your prayers now and throughout the weekend.

Nazarene Health Ministries Adopts New Discipleship Model.
Kudjip, Papua New Guinea

Outpatients wait for doctor
Patients that come to the Kudjip Nazarene Hospital in Papua New Guinea experience the Love of God and many turn to Him.
The doctors and staff were concerned for those new believers after they left the hospital environment, especially those that did not have a believing support system.
Enter Nazarene Health Ministries, offering spiritual formation and emphasis on devotions for both staff and patients.
NHM has identified a list of goals to help meet the spiritual needs of the patients as they return to their homes and for the staff as well.

NAZARENE HEALTH MINISTRIES ADOPTS NEW DISCIPLESHIP MODEL
Kudjip, Papua New Guinea: The mission of Nazarene Health Ministries (NHM) is not just to save lives through physical cure; they strongly believespiritual healing is equally important as well.
NHM has been continuously providing medical care and discipling their staff and patients. Through this, many people have come to know God and accepted Him in their hearts. Some are fortunate to have communities and families who are with them in their faith, but what happens to the people who have little or no social support?

NHM decided to provide faith encouragement and focus on spiritual formation. This endeavor started by holding the first ever NHM Spiritual Life Staff Retreat, with plans of having it on a regular basis. They have also increased their emphasis on staff and patient devotions.
In August, NHM will offer a hospital evangelism course to help their staff share the love of God more clearly with interested patients. More staff, students and doctors want to be more involved in church growth and discipleship.
NHM’s new discipleship model is very much supported by the staff, students and doctors, who want to become more involved in the different activities. OnSundays, they plan to go out to different areas in Papua New Guinea, initially for patient follow-up. Eventually, when there is no patient follow-up, they will still continue their weekly visits so that it becomes part of the communities’ systems. They are praying that this will become a regular activity that the staff could participate in, aside from their church obligations.
Other discipleship opportunities that were identified were as follows:
Strengthening churches that a number of NHM staff have already planted.
Regular visits to Barawagi prison.
Jesus Film showing to Nazarene College of Nursing students, and chaplains to preach at various churches in the surrounding area.
Local follow-up from people who have found their faith and have given their lives to the Lord.
NHM believes that among the many activities that they have planned, the regular Sunday visits and the evangelism course offering will make the most Kingdom Impact.
Let us continue to pray for NHM. May their new discipleship model give them more chances to interact with patients at a more personal level, identifying their needs and sharing about God and His love.[Submitted: Nazarene Health Ministries]
