The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection July 2015
Dear Men of Resurrection,
If you were in town this weekend and attended church you saw I was called out of the bull pen and onto the preaching mound for Adam. I mention this to say wow, that is a demanding schedule. I am writing this now to say how much it meant to me to have people praying for me. I especially want to state the responsibility we all have to pray for our Senior Pastor. I remember reading while in seminary that one 30 minute sermon is the same as working hard manual labor for 8 to 10 hours. Multiply that times five services almost every weekend. Adam is clearly an outstanding leader, preacher and teacher, and we are all the beneficiaries of that. How about if we all in return make it our goal to keep Adam and all of our pastors in our daily prayers. They carry a very heavy load.
Every Blessing,
Jeff
Interview with Jeff Milton:

Tell us a bit about yourself. Are you a Kansas City guy?
I was born and raised in Kansas City, but spent the majority of my time north of the river. I graduated from Baker University with degrees in sociology and psychology. My emphasis in my studies was criminal justice and social justice. At Baker I participated in the theatre and baseball programs. I am truly grateful for this city and growing up here!
You work on the church staff with our students, right? Tell us about what exactly you do.
I serve as the high school minister in rezlife student ministries. I oversee and provide direction for all events, programs, and opportunities that interact with high school students. This includes our weekly youth group program, our small group ministry, any care issues involving students, student leadership teams, mission trips and retreats and personal one-on-one time with students. I don’t do this alone of course-I have the wonderful support of the rezlife team and a grouping of tremendous volunteers.
What can you share with us about your personal faith journey? How did God's love and purpose become real to you?
I grew up in a loving church family and attended church frequently. However, it wasn’t until my later college years that I began to recognize that following Jesus is much like an apprentice following a master craftsman. Instead of focusing on the external rules and regulations of the faith and remaining lifeless inwardly, I began to shift my focus to seeing Christ as a teacher and us as His students. He teaches what the good life truly is, who a truly good person is and how they live, and what life in the Kingdom of God is all about. This has become real to me through personal interactions with mentors and spiritual directors, as well as a plethora of reading material.
