Hello friends,
Pastor Jason is on a much deserved vacation with his family this week. So, I am “pinch hitting” for him (a little baseball humor) on the weekly e-note.
As many of you know, a serve team from Resurrection West will be in Honduras from Sunday, July 12, until Sunday, July 19. I am privileged to lead this awesome team and they are: Michelle Anspaugh, Crista Green, Chris Monson, Ray Mackalous, Rosemary Plum, Sharon Ward and Steve Ward. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers while we are away.
In Honduras, we will be doing several mission projects including making five cultural presentations about the USA to the students at the Juan Wesley school in Ciudad Espana, helping teach English to the students, doing some light construction on the school’s expansion, working on their computer lab and hosting Methodist women from around Honduras at a sewing workshop centered on creating altar vestments for their altar tables and lecterns. One member of our team will also be training teachers and leading classes on depression and domestic violence to help launch this new women’s ministry in Ciudad Espana. All of these projects were requested by our friends in Honduras and we are excited to minister alongside them.

Join us for the July FaithWork event - TOMORROW (Saturday) at 9am in the RezWest Sanctuary! Serve God by serving those in need - adults and children are welcome to participate in this family-friendly mission opportunity, where we will prepare school supply bags for Ridgeview Elementary's MEGA MISSION event. There will also be no-sew blanket projects.
July 17 - Olathe Summer Concert in the Park. Join us as we gather at Frontier Park (15501 W Indian Creek Pkwy, Olathe) to enjoy the Beatles cover band, “Liverpool”. Concert starts at 7pm, plan to arrive early and sit with the RezWest group. Dennis and Reve Butler will be "hosting," just look for their RezWest balloon bouquet! Bring your chairs and blankets, food is available for purchase.
MEGA MISSION Ridgeview - Saturday, August 1st. Meet at Resurrection West at 9am for project selection, instructions, donut holes, coffee and prayer. We will then pack-up supplies and head over to Ridgeview Elementary to help beautify the grounds, prepare the classrooms for the start of the new school year and create welcome crafts for the teachers and welcome notes for the children. Please bring yard tools - rakes, shovels and wheelbarrows, if you have them. We will also host a Celebration Cookout Lunch for the Ridgeview community - complete with water play and fun for all ages! Wear your MEGA MISSION t-shirts (extras will be available) and help bless the school. All activities and clean-up should be finished by 1:30pm. New Summer Study for Women – The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown, July 9, 16, 23, 30, 9:30-11 am. Each day we face a barrage of images and messages from society and the media telling us who, what and how we should be. So most of us perform, please and perfect, all the while thinking, “What if I can’t keep all of these balls in the air? When can I stop proving myself?” Dr. Brown shares ten guideposts on the power of wholehearted living—a way of engaging with the world from a place of worthiness. This study is geared for those who may need to miss a class. Childcare is available for age 6 weeks – 5th grade. Register at rezwest.org/summerwomensstudy.
Christian History Class offered July 12 and 19. This class will introduce participants to the history of the Christian church. Led by Dr. Jim Brandt, Professor of Historical Theology at Saint Paul School of Theology, the class will explore the larger periods of church history: the Early Church, the Medieval Church, the Church of the Reformations, the Early Modern Church and the Church in the 19th and 20th Centuries. We will get a sense of this larger flow of the tradition and then look more closely at some developments in the Reformation and the Church in the U.S. Cost of the class is $25 per person. Rez West Honduras January 2016 Bless the School Serve Trip – Join our team as we head to Honduras January 17-24, 2016! Our mission will be to share the love of Christ as we teach the teachers English and help prepare the Juan Wesley School for their 2016 academic year.
