Resurrection West,
This will be a great weekend as we celebrate our independence and the freedom we have to gather in worship! We will continue our series on the parables of Christ at 9am, 10:45am, and 5pm. I look forward to preaching on the parable of the Good Shepherd. We will welcome some surprise guests to help us better understand the nature of this parable. I don’t want to give away who the surprise guests are, but here is a subtle hint…
This will certainly be a memorable time in worship that you won’t want to miss! It’s also a “Family Worship Sunday”, which means we give our Sunday School teachers a break, but nursery will be available at all services for 4 years and younger (we are in great need of 3-4 more volunteers to serve our youngest this Sunday. If you can serve, please email Sommer Kelling at sommer.kelling@cor.org right away)! We will have kid’s packets for any wigglers and also a special give-a-way for every household to help strengthen our understanding of the parable’s meaning.

Our next summer event: July 17 - Olathe Summer Concert in the Park. Join us as we gather at Frontier Park (15501 W Indian Creek Pkwy, Olathe) to enjoy the Beatles cover band, “Liverpool”. Concert starts at 7pm, plan to arrive early and find the RezWest group! Bring your chairs & blankets, food will be available for purchase.

July 15 – Water Wars!! - MS & HS students. Join us from 6:30-8:30 at Rezwest for a night of water games, water balloons, slip n slides, and more!

rezlife West Middle School Mission Trip – Incoming 6th-8th graders are invited to serve with us in Downtown Kansas City, July 20-24. We’ll be staying at Resurrection Downtown. Cost is $200, includes transportation, meals, lodging and fun! Register atrezwest.org/students.
Rez West Simon’s Crew – Be part of a volunteer crew who assists with set-up/tear-down of the sanctuary and other facility-related responsibilities. Some volunteer opportunities are weekly, while others are unique, one-time tasks. Both mid-week and weekend help is needed. Contact Jason Safly for more information at 4saf@att.net.
K-6th grade Upward Sports Coming to RezWest - clinics next week - We are starting a youth sports program with soccer this fall, followed by basketball in the winter. Our goal is to provide a positive, biblically based environment for children to develop mentally, athletically, spiritually and socially. We hope you will join us in helping our young athletes discover a love for sports in a healthy competitive atmosphere as they develop skills for life. New Summer Study for Women – The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown, July 9, 16, 23, 30, 9:30-11 am. Each day we face a barrage of images and messages from society and the media telling us who, what and how we should be. So most of us perform, please and perfect, all the while thinking, “What if I can’t keep all of these balls in the air? When can I stop proving myself?” Dr. Brown shares ten guideposts on the power of wholehearted living—a way of engaging with the world from a place of worthiness. This study is geared for those who may need to miss a class. Childcare is available for age 6 weeks – 5th grade. Register at rezwest.org/summerwomensstudy.
Christian History Class offered July 12 and 19. This class will introduce participants to the history of the Christian church. Led by Dr. Jim Brandt, Professor of Historical Theology at Saint Paul School of Theology, the class will explore the larger periods of church history: the Early Church, the Medieval Church, the Church of the Reformations, the Early Modern Church and the Church in the 19th and 20th Centuries. We will get a sense of this larger flow of the tradition and then look more closely at some developments in the Reformation and the Church in the U.S. Cost of the class is $25 per person. Rez West Honduras January 2016 Bless the School Serve Trip – Join our team as we head to Honduras January 17-24, 2016! Our mission will be to share the love of Christ as we teach the teachers English and help prepare the Juan Wesley School for their 2016 academic year.
