Your Help Needed! from Reconciling Ministries Network - Take the 100 RUMs Challenge! for Tuesday, 14 July 2015

New Reconciling United Methodists!
Dear Cal-Pac and Cal-Nev Reconciling United Methodists,
The famous LGBTQ icon and martyr was known for saying, "I am Harvey Milk, and I am here to recruit you!"
We have made great strides for equality since Harvey won his first election as San Francisco city supervisor - we won marriage equality this year! But more work remains ahead.
Building and strengthening the Reconciling movement in our denomination requires engaging and recruiting more people to join us in this holy work. We are a grassroots movement of churches, communities, and individuals. We cannot be content until we have reached out to every member of our congregations and ministries. Its all about building new and deeper relationships.
We are encouraged to launch a "100 New RUMs Drive" this summer. We have eight annual conferences in the Western Jurisdiction. If we sign up 100 new Reconciling United Methodists (RUMs) from each conference, we'll have 800 new RUMs by fall!
With every new RUM who signs up, we are making it clear to The United Methodist Church that more and more people of faith refuse to accept the harm our church does to LGBTQ people in the name of Christianity.
Here's what you can do to send the message loud and clear that its time to stop discriminating against LGBTQ people:
1. Download the RUM Sign Up Drive kit here and let's make this summer count. We are less than one year away from General Conference 2016 and we want every voice from the pews to be heard. Sign-up your church and individual community members.
2. Forward this email to others in your church and community and ask them to sign-up as a Reconciling United Methodist online. Click here to sign up.
